Fluval Fx5 In A 50 Odd Gallon Tank

I cant dissagree and that link did say they were both good filters. I only want to use the filter as the marine tank has loads of crap floating around it, and having a clear tank is worth more than the £100 I can get for my filter. its only an xtra, and the maintenace on the filter is the...

Fluval Fx5 In A 50 Odd Gallon Tank

not really wanting it for its flow rate but more for its filtration power, this is already my filter from my 105 imperial gallon tank that I have recently closed down, my concern is it would push the rocks and soft corals all over the place, the cleaning power of these machines are superb, and...

Fluval Fx5 In A 50 Odd Gallon Tank

HI guys. do you think an FX5 would be too strong for my 50 odd gallon marine tank? I had 2 and sold 1 but the other I have offered a friend. today I had an idea that maybe it may be better on my marine tank alongside the sump. I have fish, soft corals, toad stools, cleaner crew, etc. Need to...

    Kids Right's, Fish Rights...

Well Laws or not, I think the responcability should fall on the parent, lets face it, thats what were there for, to teach them the difference between right and wrong. I would rather buy my kids a pet bird or a fish and allow them to create interests, instead of see them hanging around on street...

    Mudskipper................parished

well its not a guy, its a child, did you never make mistakes when you were a kid, cause I know I made loads, like feeding t-bags to my goldfish, thinking a walk for a gold fish was a swim in the toilet. you go get yourself another mudskipper bud, but just be a little more carefull next time m8...

    Air Bubbles!

see what ya mean about the air bubbles!!!! some nice colours in there, did not pay much attention to the interior of the tank so no critisism from me :good:

    Air Bubbles!

as long as your only shutting down the ventura sysem (air hose at the top) and you have the outlets level with the water then you should be fine, if you notice your fish hovering at the top too much then raise the filter up a bit more. with regards to uploading photos, transfere to the photo...

    Air Bubbles!

theres nothing wrong with having air bubbles in the tank but my preferance like some others is not to have them, like you have already mentioned, they spoil the view of the tank, more so in a small tank. you have noticed that not many folk use the air pumps because the modern day filters are...

Cheers Ferris. :good: I would not use coloured gravel, and I dont know if these people know, that coloured gravel does eventually leach, and it will soon lose its colour. anyway, I thought mama was refering to d+a tank, which I quite like!!!!! (yes, I know, it has black gravel). I have just...

    Help Id This Cichlid

I wouldn't say it was a ready to breed livingstoni as they become blue when ready to breed, the same with the polystigma, I would say that the blotches resemble the livingstoni while the colours on the fins resemble the polystigma??????? possibly a crossbreed between both species. have never...

He's the terminator I mentioned a couple of montns ago, He picked of 4 of my new obliquadens in 2 days. We were actually pointing the finger at the venustus which is twice the size, but it soon became apparent when the proof was still sticking out of the terminators mouth. No more...

    Need Help

red zebras do tend to change to a pearl colour as they become old and large, its nothing to worrie about, and you will only see it in your larger zebras..your smaller zebras will still be the same colour, assuming you do have various sized fish :good:

    Yet Another Id Question =(

not sure what that is, looks like its kissing nose. I think its a bigger fish in the background and the 2 have fused together, bit strange as none of my happs are showing aggression so far, there all at peace with each other, its only the labs that display , and its only the labs that have fry...

    Yet Another Id Question =(

I think the fish in that link is a mistake, I and 3 friends of mine have the borleyi yellow fins and there nothing like the fish in question. both the males and females start off with silver bodies. here's my male. and here's my female. juveniles are the same colour as the adult female...

    Aggression Problem

I dont believe that rearanging your rockwork will help tanks, infact I think it will fire up the aggression even more as the fish regain there territories. I would take your hybrid fish back, stand your ground, mention this site, and ask to exchange for 3 females, he will clearly see he has...

    Frozen Foods?

I would also point out that mbuna in the wild do eat crustations and other fish etc, they are an opportunist fish and will take virtualy anything you give them, I have been known to wash the gravy off my processed peas (left on the plate from the sunday roast) and scrape them into my tank, they...

    Frozen Foods?

This is what I feed to my malawi, notice the pack of frozen food is green, this is the vegetarian, you can also buy it in the spinach variety which is also green (darker green packaging). The following are various foods I feed to my happs, notice how the frozen malawi mix is brown (meat)

    Yet Another Id Question =(

Yep, thats the copadichromis in the link, stunning fish, I have 5 of them, red and yellow finned. BUT, the 2 in your photo are most deffiniatly not. Scoured through my mbuna aqualog and there is no cichlid that resembles yours, chances are its a hybrid, and a beutiful one at that. :good:

    Changed My Set Up

    Yet Another Id Question =(

Its most deffiniatly not a copadichromis borleyi, but it doesn't look like any acei I have ever seen. I would be enclined to say the colour resembles the rusty cichlid??? whatever they are, there a beutiful looking fish.

    Getting A New 125g Tank!

I would suggest keeping happs and peacocks, with a few yellow labs(mbuna) to finish off. with happs you dont need so much rock as they are open water swimmers, you have to be pacient as they take much longer than the mbuna to grow but in the long run you end up with some good sized fish, and in...
