I wanted to stock this new 125g tank I'm getting with some African Cichlids. Anyone know any good sites with info on substrate, decor, food, special equipment, compatability, etc.? Also, I still can't decide what group of African Cichs to go with if anyone has any suggestions on that.

I would suggest keeping happs and peacocks, with a few yellow labs(mbuna) to finish off. with happs you dont need so much rock as they are open water swimmers, you have to be pacient as they take much longer than the mbuna to grow but in the long run you end up with some good sized fish, and in my oppinion a much more superior fish. there much more relaxing to watch as there no where near as scatty as the mbuna. with a tank your size its well worth considering.

Here are some Happs that I keep.

aulanocara marmala pearl
aulanocara baenshi
aulanocara kornelia
protomelus taeniolatus (boadzulu or red empress)
protomelus spilonotus mozambique
nimbochromis linnis
nimbochromis livingstoni
nimbochromis venustus
sciaenochromis fryer (electric blue)
copidachromis borleyia kadango red fin
copidachromis virgin ali`s
copadichromis borleyi gold fin
placidochromis elecrta
placidochromis phenochilus
dimidiochromis strigatus
obliquadens
morri (blue dolphins).

He can't even spell Aulonocara correctly.

Seriously though Peacocks are gorgeous fish and certainly rival Mbuna in that area. I'm not a massive fan of haps but each to their own. My own list would comprise of.............Hmm let me see........ my signature list. :p

Take that up with the missus, she's the one who put my cichlid list on the computer, I just coppied and pasted it. problem with the cichlids on your signature is that there 10 a penny, and there in everyones tanks, including mine LOL.

Have put my cichlids on the back burner at the moment while I learn more about my new tank and inhabitants (I do hope I spelt that properly).
