    Sump Filter

I'm about to. I'll let you know how it goes. You just have to be sure the glass is not tempered. Most US tanks the bottom glass is tempered, but some all the glass is tempered...and that would be a bummer if you tried to drill that. As for actually drilling it, there are a lot of how to's on...

Nice Work! I'm in the process of a similar led/arduino build. Would you mind sharing more on that? Like where you are doing research to get the code, bit maps, ect

    Tigerbarb Problem ?

I had similar behavior with Tigers. I was able to save one of the 2 displaying this behavior. It could be a number of things. But the top 3 are: Bacterial Infection as Mikey mentioned, high nitrites, or swim bladder issue due to stress. Mine was due to swim bladder. Does his belly seem to...

    Ph

You want a higher pH for "old world cichlids" ...Africans like pH in the 8's. New world...South Americans tend to like lower pH in the 6's. A stable pH is overall more important than the number

    Noobs Ltlb 10

Decided it was time to start changing this tank up. I felt the H. difformus, although a strong and fast grower, was just to big for this tank. I felt I had it positioned well, but left the scape feeling crowded. So, today I pulled it all. I repositioned the flame moss from front to back. I...

Snails, How To Get Rid Of?!

I smash them with my fingers, and then my Rainbows gobble them up before they hit the bottom....yummy

Lost A Cory, High Ph Problem.

Any other stock besides the Panda's? I'm not convinced Ph is the problem. I wouldn't mess with it. Stable ph is more important than the number. If you add Ph down...it will go down, but eventually it will go up again and you'll have to add more.

Lost A Cory, High Ph Problem.

I agree with above. I have hard water with a Ph 8.4. Perfect for Africans. But, I am keeping CPDs and Rainbows just fine. Did your Ph swing up? If so, what was it prior to the 8.2 reading?

    Anubus Has A Leak?

Thanks for the quick answer fellas! Makes sense. I've been preparing the stock for my first breeding attempt, and they're starting to get a little feisty in there. Thanks for the tank complement. I always thought about doing some You Yube vids, but my wife already thinks I'm nuts when it comes...

    Anubus Has A Leak?

I noticed this odd happening, and I'm not sure what it could be. I don't think it's oxygen, but it could be. Any answers out there?? http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh523/stever42/79E059C9-6C9F-40F7-9F51-7E406877160C-1313-000001557F7493CF.mp4...

    Diy Co2 Reactor Idea Help?

Pretty interesting idea. I can't help but wonder if you will end up with a co2 pocket at the top of the reactor? I'm not sure if the water flow in will push one large co2 bubble all the way to the bottom of the reactor. You might want to consider running so airline tubing to the bottom of the...

    Newbie Plant Help, Please!

The answer to your first 2 questions really depends on what plants do you want, and what kind of light do you have? To answer the 3rd question, you can tie it down with thread or use a little bit of super glue. If you don't want to invest in a high light source, or pressurized Co2, you can...

    Nano Morph

told ya.... Didn't have to touch the Wisteria, or the Anubus. But, I hacked up the Star Grass like an axe murderer... My hope is that side shoots develop, and will hold this shape. I added some flame moss to the base of the wood. And I finally gave up and pulled all the micro sword... Maybe if...

    Nano Morph

It's been awhile since I did an update on this tank. Probably because I haven't done much to it. I have been ei dosing and have a 2 bottle DIY co2, but haven't been grooming or positioning much. I left for a 3 week trip, came back to this: The Star Grass over-ran everything! Time to trim...a...

    Aqueon Aquarium Water Changer

    Arduino Controller

The Mega board is pre made. The kit was the Mega with a 3.2" tft lcd, and an lcd shield. It all plugs together and stacks on the Mega. Easy enough. But, can't seem to find any information on how or what I would need to connect LED lighting, fans, pumps ect. I know one if the first things...

    Arduino Controller

Does anyone have any experience building a LED or reef controller using the Arduino Mega? I leaped before I looked. I thought I could find plenty of resources on the net to build one, however this has not been the case. I find plenty of code to use, but my isse is actually putting the circuit...

Hi Donya! I hope you don't mind me bugging you, but didn't you have a write up somewhere about being able to use tap water for marine? I briefly read it, but can't find it because the MARC disappeared. Thanks! Have a great day!

    First Tropical Aquarium

Am I reading this right??? 16 hour photo period? EDIT: I might be wrong, but what I have gathered from reading so far is that you are more than likely on a well system for your water. Just from you pH readings your water is on the hard side with a lot of minerals and silicates. Now, because...

    First Tropical Aquarium

The water coming out of the tap more than likely has more suspended co2, and this is why the pH is testing lower. You shouldn't test it straight out of the tap. To get an accurate reading fill a cup and let it sit for 24 hours and then test it, or you can stick an airstone in the cup for a...

Update: Still a happy tank at the moment. Just over 2 weeks since my last update, and all is going as smooth as then. I really like the "path" effect that is developing, and it looks like it is disappearing into the dark woods. I wish I could say I planned this, but its actually just a happy...

    Using Pine In My Tank....?

Hint of pine???? What the heck does that mean?? That seems really odd to me. Ive never heard that before....oak with a hint of pine/hickory with a hint of walnut/mohagany with a hint of cherry. Just never heard of that. Wood is wood if it's a solid piece. Either its pine or not. Unless its a...

To Dsb....or To Not Dsb, That Is The Question

No you're right...this will be for a 46 gallon tank. When I first started kicking around the idea of going salty it was for a 12gallon eclipse. For sure a Nano. But, then starting my research I didn't really care for my stocking options in a Nano. So, I changed it to the 46 I have. So, as...

To Dsb....or To Not Dsb, That Is The Question

Thanks again Kyle. I'll eventually sort this out. I might be over thinking it a bit, and still on the Nano level. I was going to start with a 12 gallon, and my research started with Nano's. Where all the filtration is biological, and in the tank with the use of power heads...

Hi Meggie! If you would like you can check out my journal. It's a 5.5g planted CPD tank. It might help answer some of your questions. I recently added a DIY yeast system, and I am getting great results. I have currently changed it to 2 - 1 liter bottle reactors and a 1 liter bubble...

To Dsb....or To Not Dsb, That Is The Question

In my research of the DSB I have come accross many opinions as to the pro's and con's of utilizing one in an aquarium set-up. I have attached a link which helped me make the decision to apply a DSB in my middle sized MR set-up. I would not apply this to a Nano set-up as water changes, HOB...

To Dsb....or To Not Dsb, That Is The Question

I was thinking about adding some LR to the sump. I am thinking about 80 lbs total for the system. I don't know if I will be able to get all of that into the MT. I want to get as much as possible in the MT because I really want the sump dedicated to the removal of Nitrates and Phosphates. My...
