Theres some nice driftwood on ebay that id like for my tank, but it says there is a "hint" of pine within the wood. After doing some research I can see pine is a NO NO, surely theres a way of preparing it for a tank?

Thanks Ben

Hint of pine????

What the heck does that mean??

That seems really odd to me. Ive never heard that before....oak with a hint of pine/hickory with a hint of walnut/mohagany with a hint of cherry. Just never heard of that.

Wood is wood if it's a solid piece. Either its pine or not. Unless its a plywood or particle board of some sort.

Only thing I can think of it that it was chemically treated to smell nice. In which case I wouldn't put it in my tank.

Pine does have a scent until its 100% dried out. Best you can do is let it continue to dry outdoors. Once it no longer has a smell to it, boil it and then soak in water for some time. The goal is to get all the sap out of pine, before using it. It can take a long time. you might be better off just looking at another piece of wood.

Pine is absolutely fine. As long as it is dry and free from bark.

Don't boil it though. It can make the fibres break down quicker.
