I always add straight tap water for my water changes. lol. I guess that's why i have like no algae and no algae eaters. Should I let my water change water sit for 24 hours and a dechlor?

What should I look for while quarantining?

I've had them for about 3 weeks. And it is a 65 gallon tank and so far the tinfoil barb is doing fine.

I have an: electric blue maingano yellow lab pseudo acei kenyi tinfoil barb cherry zebra or red zebra? red peacock The kenyi used to be being the aggressive one but for some reason it's now the electric blue. The kenyi is now very peaceful. Should I take the electric blue back?

I am thinking about quarantining 2 1-2 inch yellow labs in a 10 gallon tank. Will this work?? How long do I quarantine for? Should I do them 1 at a time?

Okay, basically the store screwed you by telling you to just leave it for a few weeks. You might as well do a cycling with fish apposed to fishless cycling now. Once those guppies and gouramis have been in there for 4 weeks your cycling is finished. I have had the same problem with gouramis...

I flush the small fish. I haven't had anything die that doesn't fit down the toilet yet tho.

Ya cause I'm not paying hundreds of dollars to fill up my tanks and do water changes. Especially when you can buy stuff for a lot less money to change your water hardness.

Ya, well I haven't gotten the oscar or the pirahna yet, I was thinking about it. I found them at LFS. They are really cute though he can tear apart feeder guppies. (I had a baby pirahna in there for a while before) Thanks for Advice I might not get him. I'll think about it.

I bought sand meant for like sandbox's and stuff. I took out half of the lava rock pieces and put sand in that half. I am just trying it out. Sorry, I didn't listen. I thought Hmmm, I could listen to kj and pay $50 or go buy sand for $5. Well I hope it works

No, I didn't stack it, I used it as substrate. Then i had bigger lava rock that i stacked. The little stuff covering the bottom of the tank is the problem. I might tank it out and go with sand anyways.

I am thinking of setting up SA tank. I like Green Terrors, Jack Dempsey, and stuff like that. Right now i don't have a tank so don't ask what tank size. Although what tank size would be good? Is there a list somewhere of all the different SA profiles?

I think my fish store said they were selling their cichlids at about 6 months old for the small ones.

I have medium size pieces of lava rock for my substrate in my mbuna aqaurium. I also have a siphon to clean the gravel in my other tanks. Although my siphon doesn't fit around the lava rock. How should I clean the lava rock? Even if i did get a siphon that was bigger it still wouldn't work...

I thought mbuna tanks were supposed to be 48 inches long. This tank is only about 40". Is this because if there is low aggresssion they don't get chased around the tank as much? Oh and btw make sure you have lots of hiding places.
