    reef tank

Anything under a ten gallon is difficult to find equitement for. I have a ten and a fifteen tall. You may want to look at a delux cube. Make sure it has good power compacts on it and a built in skimmer, or room for one.

    Here's a challenge for you.

I just move mine in five gallon buckets, keep the fish in the cab with you. You can get battery powered air pumps for dirt cheap and they run for eight to twelve hours on 2 D batterys. (you can control the temp in the cab so they dont get too hot or too cold.)

    Should I use magnets?

The magnet always falls to the bottom of the tank and you end up having to go in any way. I use a green scruber now, seems like I can do it faster than pissing around trying to keep the magnet from falling.

    What is wrong with people?!

Sorrell, I feel your pain my friend. My wife (a marine biologist) called me to tell me that the over flow lost it sucktion and well, everthing got turned off until I got home. She has gotten me down to just my 10 and 15 gallon nano. I seem to remember when we were dating she thought it would be...

My water is really screwed help!!!!

Not very likely to have your RO go bad without some out side contamination going on. Is anything dieing in the tank, or is it just not clear? RO filters plug and you get less out put, but the quality stays the same. It is posible to import algae from allowing water from another tank into your...

    Calcium

I dont think that you really need to do much with it unless you plan on putting hard corals in the tank. The others really dont use much calcium and at your levels you should be fine I would think. I may be wrong (Just my gut feelings on the subject.) Navarre or GL might have more imput on this.

    Moving assumption

Three years ago, I moved my 75 gallon reef 300 miles. Two years ago, moved it 76 miles, 8 months ago I moved it 2 blocks, and 3 months ago I moved it 10 miles. Well, guess what, last month it moved 300 miles and is now with in a few blocks of where I fist set it up. It is stressful, takes all...

What's the best way to go

This from Navarre "Well i use Natural Sea water and where i get mine from its 1.025. Salt water varies in salinity all over the world but they are right to say thats its abot 1.025. As for the brakishwater... i would say that 1.018 would be fine. I would be worried at lower for any lenthy...

What's the best way to go

Ok, what are you smoking. Natural sea water drifts from 1.022 to 1.025. Now as far as this huge die off goes, what makes you think that they die off in the first place. They may not do as well as in higher salinity, but dont just keel over and call it quits. Many rivers and streams dump into...

    Clown host

Sarcophyton, leather coral works well. However, there is no garrenty that your percula clown will take to any host. Most tank raised never do, but others have had luck getting clowns make a home in a host by taping a photo of another wild clown doing this. I have never tried this method, and my...

    new addition

I just picked up a red tree sponge. Wow, what a great bit of color to add to my tank. I will put up photos as soon as I get my desk top hooked back up. anemones

There are anemone that live in the sand, and some carpets perfer the sand when they get larger. I use both live sand and live rock, it all makes a great filter, but having sand in the bottom of the tank also makes it much easier to stack rock. Plus puts a buffer between the rock and the bottom...

    white things on mushrooms

Navarre, I am talking about the white worm like things that dont come from the mouth, but instead come through the body of the mushroom. Thats not the intestines is it? Oh, testing the water is fine, but I dont belive it can show foreign contamination if this could be the cause of what is going...

    white things on mushrooms

Shrimp will shed wile stressed. I think that a water change was a good thing. Something bad is going on with your water. Sounds like its contaminated to me. The shrimp ex-o should not be bothering it. I really think I would get carbon going and any extra skimmers might help.

    clown loaches

How much air in the tank?

Nope, dont need to add air. Just good water flow will do the trick. I have had a skilter in the past and gave the piece of **** away. It was doing the same thing yours is doing. Via-Aqua makes a much better one, but cost 3 times as much.

    Live Sand vs. Live Rock

HMMMM, seems as though they didnt believe me in FW. They were saying that most of us on the marine side use play sand to save money. I corrected them, seems as though they came to find out for themselves.

    white things on mushrooms

Nope, just leave them be, you can do more damage to the mushroom by pulling them out. My mushrooms pulled through, but I was able to figure out what the problem was and correct it. Dont worry about the parasites, figure out what is killing the mushroom. Has anyone sprayed any windex or anything...

What's the best way to go

Wait a min. Are we talking about going to a reef or just a FOLR tank? If we are talking about FOLR, then it does not matter. (you would only be useing rock as a filter) But I assure you that snails and hermitts, ect... will servive in 1.016 to 1.018. I know, I have done it. Feathers and others...

    Lost

Well, sorry but let me assure you a tag will not do well in a 30 gallon. They are open water swimmers and need at least 100 gallons plus plenty of sea weed to graze on. Being put into a small tank like that can be very stressfull to a tang, but there could be many other reasons the fish may have...

How much air in the tank?

Some skimmers spit bubbles for awile when first starting up, I have seen this last several days. It could also be (depending on the skimmer) that a seal has gone bad or is pinched allowing too much air to enter. Check all fittings and make sure they are tight, but not to tight. As far as the...
