I cant figure out what to do with my water. I went to the lfs and the guy tested the water and it was just fine. Again my tank is a 65 gallon reef setup with a 25 gallon regugium with mirical mud and macro algea. As far as lighting i have a 175 watt metal halide bulb on during the day as well as 2 3ft actinic bulbs. As far as fish there is 3 clown fish,2 damsels and a pink fish i cant recall the name. The water has a greenish tint and visibility is limited. I have shut the lights off and covered it with a blanket. Thought it helped but did nothing at all to the water. I have tried carbon and it seemed to work for a while now it is merky as ever. Any cluse guys?? Also there is around 65 lbs of live rock. Just looks terrible i have even added some water clarifier stuff for days with no luck..

Does the tank recieve any direct sunlight? This should not be a huge problem but if you have nutrients like phosphate or nitrates then an algae bloom suspended in the water colum could be happening

I had such a bad green algae bloom when I started I could not even see in the tank!

Two days of light out and covered started me on the road to recovery. Once you get the stuff on the run it leaves pretty fast. IME anyway.

Ah, well I am at it. Are you planning on many corals?

I ask this because if you have the standard 2ft high 65gal, you may want to step the 175 halide up to a 250 or 400 watt one.

Yeah, what type of water are you using, and the sunlight question is pertinent.

How steady is the temperature of the water? Have you tried checking several times a day?

pH?

Can you get your hands on a UV sterilizer? That might help....

I know exactly what the problem is, and how to correct it. It is very simple and easy to do, it will only take five minutes to do and your tank will be crystal clear shortly after. Ohhh, Sienfeld is on, got to go!

Well guys i sm using ro water. I am even using a water clarifier that has done nothing for me. I am going to get my water tested again in the morning and see what the guys at the lfs have to say.... Maybe could my ro water be bad causing the tank to become merky? Is that possible? I dont have a clue.....

Not very likely to have your RO go bad without some out side contamination going on. Is anything dieing in the tank, or is it just not clear? RO filters plug and you get less out put, but the quality stays the same. It is posible to import algae from allowing water from another tank into your tank. If it is not an algae problem, have you had your carpets cleaned, or sprayed any other chemicals in or near the room? This can cause cloudy water.
