    Clouded community tank

Since you capped your old substrate(where alot of the BB loives), more bacteria is probably forming on the new top layers to replace it which might be causing the bloom. Just my guess.

Mine are in a 30 gallon flat back hexagon tank. I only change 10 gallons every 2 weeks. There are about 35 right now. I think their hardness should be between 150 ppm and 450 ppm. I keep mine around 350 ppm, usually. Here is their SF species profile.

    Thoughts on New Tank Idea?

So your hardness fits for the glass cats, at least, and is probably good for the corycats. The Celestial Pearl Danio/Galaxy Rasbora can actually take fairly hard water, so you are good on that mark. I have glass cats and galaxy rasbora in a tank, and they work well together. Mine are also housed...

    Thoughts on New Tank Idea?

I would probably only do two of the three fish listed, but bring the number of each up to 6 or 7. All three species listed like shoals of that size or larger. If the tank doesn't seem crowded, then go from there on maybe adding a 3rd species. That is of course if you have low gh/hardness.

They like very hard water, being from the African rift lake Tanganyika. Honestly, not much more work than my regular tanks. They just get refilled with 5 gallon buckets instead of the python so I can add the scoops of minerals and stir it in. The lake salts cost me about $10 every 6 months.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

Yeah, it works. Occasionally my rainbow cichlids will eat a couple, but they much prefer veggies. The pet store will not take fish they are unable to sell (so less than 3ish months old guppy or platy), and they can get overwhelming even with only 1 or 2 breeding females.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

My Jack Dempsey. He eats any fry I don't want to grow out and sell to the store, or ones I don't have room for.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

Not that I have seen, and those fry will swim right past the noses of my puffers. My female guppy have dropped several batches of fry, and I have to offload them into my JD tank or give them to the fish store.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

I have a variety of live bearers (Molly, guppy and platy) in with my pair of figure 8 puffers. The puffers even eat the flake food I put out for the fish.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

Well, I have two other species of puffers. My figure 8 puffers are completely non aggressive to any fish in the tank (even guppy fry), but will demolish any invertebrates. My pea puffers will eat small inverts, but leave adult shrimp alone. I have not kept the peas with any fish.

    Fahaka Puffer Potential Tank Mates?

For a 48 inch long 100 gallon aquarium, ph 7.4 , and110 ppm hwrdness. So, as far as I know, Fahaka Puffers should be kept alone. Can they be kept peacefully with other fish? Someone brought it up recently that some large puffer species can be kept with other fish.

    Can I use a Fluval 307?

I would like to keep other fish, but seriously fish and most other websites recommend keeping them alone, as they will take bites out of tank mates.

Guppies how do I care for them

I would get only males, unless you want to populate multiple tanks or are breeding on purpose. Female guppies will pop out babies (5 to 100) every month for 10 months, even after any males are removed - so that has to be taken into consideration. I would say maybe 5 to 7 adult fish in a 10...

Weird goo found in fish tank

Yes, snail eggs. Squish them as you see them. Or you can put a piece of vegetable in the tank, leave for 30 min, toss in trash. Repeat until snails are gone.

    Can I use a Fluval 307?

I am growing out a Fahaka Puffer, and he is about the size of a pea right now, and just started his week qt in my 10 gallon hospital tank. His final tank is 100 gallons, so with only the single fish in the tank, with plants, can I use a fluval 307, or will a 407 be needed? I plan on also...

Thab Thanks! I have the breeding group in a 90 gallon, and will hopefully be able to keep the fry in the tank with the adults. Next month the tanks mates are being moved out, so it will be just these guys.

    Crabs?

So, there are several kinds of crabs you could keep, but none in the tank as is. Freshwater pom pom crabs probably should not be kept with anything that could damage them (so very peaceful nano fish only) or that they could catch. They only get about 1.5 inches. They are pretty delicate and...

    Two questions about my aquarium

A lot of diyers have done so, and a lot of people on forums have used it without problems. I think the biggest difference is that it has a quicker release rate than aquatic ferts, moderation is apparently key. But, that being said, I myself have not used it. I try to steer clear of dry land...

    Two questions about my aquarium

So the root tabs you listed use Osmocote Plus, which is for ground plants, but a lot of DIYers will use it in their aquariums. These caplets look like they have quite a lot in each one. I would say use very sparingly and test water a lot more frequently to see how it goes. You can probably just...
