    No filter tank issue

I must buy some, however I don’t see it often and when I do it’s quite expensive.

    Bloated Platys

What other fish you have? Maybe your lfs could take in the fry or someone you know could have a fish tank they could be placed in.

    Let's name my Betta!

Glenn is the name of my favourite character from the TV the Walking Dead.

    Dropsy, euthanize?

It’s a tough decision. If a fish is suffering for no reason it is probably best to euthanise him/ her, if all else fails. Sorry to hear about this.

    Bloated Platys

Then they will be pregnant. Platys can store the males sperm for months, and can use it to give birth to fry. Post some pictures of them so we can be certain. Do you have a tank available for fry? Or do you have space in your current tank?

    No filter tank issue

Some may remember when I created a thread about my no filter tank I planned to set up. So I had it almost finished and I added the sweet potatoes last week which, for some reason, failed to grow roots and just rotted away. I have duckweed arriving tomorrow to complete the tank and my goal was to...

    Holiday Feeding

Thanks for the replies. I thought they would be fine but it is always worth the ask. I will change the blood worms to once a week and feed less as I may be over feeding them a bit.

    Bloated Platys

If they are females which have been in a tank with males they will be pregnant.

    Let's name my Betta!

    Vincent, Admiral, Alpha, Frosty, Glenn.

    Clams

May I ask where you purchased the clams? It sounds very interesting and I might try it myself.

    Holiday Feeding

I was wondering how i could keep my betta happy and healthy while i’m on a four day holiday. I currently feed him twice a day, tropical flakes on a morning and blood worms on a night. What do you people do about feeding when on holiday? I am planning on making a reverse snail trap for my puffer...

I can’t wait to breed my dwarf puffers!

New to the forum but not to the hobby!

You need more than two corys, they need to be kept in a larger group. I would recommend you get at least 10 for this tank. Same with the tetras, you should get 6 of each species. Also the angels are likely to attack some of the smaller fish as they get larger and this could be a huge problem. I...

    Beginners tank readings questions

No, the cycle is beginning and soon it will be cycled hopefully. Nitrate will break the nitrite down soon as part of the process. When nitrate begins to appear and ammonia and nitrite are at 0 then you can add the guppies.

    Baby Shrimp!

I got yellow shrimp, blue velvet shrimp and cherry shrimp.

New to the hobby - few questions

Like said above, we need a more in detail description of the filters. However, about the betta tank mates you could try shrimp, they may get nipped or if they are too small eaten but it is a possible tank mate. More are Neon Tetras, Ember Tetras, Corys, Harlequin Rasbora and some people say...

    Baby Shrimp!

I’m considering floating a plastic container in one of my tanks and putting them in there.

    About 20 c.

    Baby Shrimp!

So I got back from my lfs today after purchasing 8 shrimps. I got home and realised I had two baby ones in the bag and putting them into my tank with fish is basically killing them so I am curious as to wether I can keep them in a tank without a heater as that is all that is available.

Hi I now have my freshwater tank as I want it and am now looking at setting up a small tropical tank i.e. A flex57 and looking for suggestions

It’s too small for a bristlenose pleco but you could keep a group of 6-8 panda corys in here.

    Mudskipper Tank

Thank you for the info, I am mainly interested in keeping the mudskippers anyway, do you know how many I could keep in a 20 gallon?
  27. JxsPxxle

    Mudskipper Tank

I’m considering starting a mud skipper tank in the near future. I know that these tanks need to be long and low down and partially land. Would a 20 gallon be a sufficient size? Would I be able to keep them alongside other fish? I’m new to brackish water so I have no experience with it but I am...

    Plants for Fish room

I am working on turning my bedroom in to a fish and plant room. Does anyone have any recommendations for large plants that would cover big parts of my room. Plants like ficus pumilla that will trail around the room.

    Snail trap problem....

Make the opening smaller and on top of the container so that the khulis can’t find it. If this doesn’t work, you could try transferring your khulna to a spare cycled tank if you have one. I had issues like this but when I put things such as carrots and lettuce in to the trap the kuhlis wouldn’t...

    African Dwarf Frogs

So tropical fish have been my hobby since I was only 12, 3 years ago and I have always tried to get my sister involved who is a year younger. Finally she came to me today and said she likes African Dwarf Frogs and is prepared to let me show her how to set up her tank and go through the process...

No filter, No CO2, No ferts Betta tank

I have seen this at my lfs I will try and pick some up soon, how many would you recommend for a 5.5 gallon tank?
  36. JxsPxxle

No filter, No CO2, No ferts Betta tank

So I previously created a thread asking if it could work if I created a betta tank which would flourish with no filter or co2 or ferts, and everyone seemed to think it would be a good idea so I went ahead with it. My tank is already cycled and the betta has been in here for a couple of weeks. So...

    What's a good first lizard ?

A blue tongued skink could be an idea. They don’t need a huge tank, but not too small and don’t require live food. They are very interesting animals which are not aggressive at all.
