    Stocking ideas, 125l Juwel Lido.

the only other change I might make is with the corys, I have one peppered Cory left, so might change there. There was a thread where someone has done a list from seriously fish detailing suitability of some species , but I can't find it is :(. I'm lea ning toward Sterbai.

    Stocking ideas, 125l Juwel Lido.

Tank all set up and running now, all I have sadly is as above sadly none of the neon green survived, so will be looking for a top level fish, I'm thinking glolight danio, unless advised otherwise. Thinking of adding half of the rasbora hengeli to start and then gradually build up my stock again.

Managed to swap over my filters today, got all of the old media I to the new one. How long should I leave to older sponges in, would like to replace the floss as the older stuff was beginning to break up.

Any idea why it's sold wet, on the video they claimed the liquid could be used to prime other media.

Swapping media over - filter floss

New filter came today so will be taking the internal filter out and swapping media into the new cannister. I'm sure I've seen somewhere that bacteria doesn't exist in the floss so no point putting this in ?? Can anyone confirm this Thanks

    Removing an internal filter.

Just done a water change, investigated a few implements. It's pretty cruddy behind the filter, will be glad to get it off and have a cleaner looking tank. Have ordered the Fluval 207. Won't restock until everything has been done.

Thanks. What did you replace it with ?

    Removing an internal filter.

Im considering the fluval 207, so I'd need to keep the heater. It's just how get the internal plastic housing off the glass that's my worry. I'm going to try and slide something in at the next water change of I can.

    Removing an internal filter.

My tank, Juwel Lido 120, has an internal filter and heater housed in a plastic case in one corner. It's held in place by blobs of silicon. I'm considering trying to remove it and change to an external filter which I can house in the cabinet below. Just wondering how successful this unlikely to...

    Is my filter system inadequate?

I had no issues with mine and only changed when I swapped to a bigger tank with an internal filter built in.

    Is my filter system inadequate?

I had one of these filters, the only downside was the suction thing kept on slipping so in the end I put a flower pot in the tank for it to stand on.

    Is my filter system inadequate?

Sounds like a really crap design.

    Is my filter system inadequate?

Just had a look at the filter design, Im assuming the water gets pulled in the bottom? Sponges should go, coarse, medium, fine and then filter floss. If the floss is getting clogged the other sponges arent doing their job, Is water leaking in somnewhere else ?

    Biological media problem

40% change today and levels down to zero before and after. I'm thinking it was a spike caused by me not using prime as my dechlorinator for around a month when I was putting the new media in. I've ordered some more plants to put in at the next change and then maybe think about slowly adding fish...

    New Aquarium thoughts

I've got a juwel with an internal filter, it's pretty decent once you work out you can use your own sponges and media.. Got mine from an independent shop rather than a big dealer.

    Filter media set up

Depends on which way the water flows. The foams should be where the water comes in and through the ceramic media to the outlet

    Filter media set up

I'm not sure if is if the ceramic is mature, you'll be starting all over again. if you Google filter pro guy on you tube he shows you how to set up an efx 600.

    Filter media set up

I'd put sponges at the top, and some filter floss, then have your ceramic in the second tray. The phosphate and Carbon pads are just away of getting your cash, unless you actually need them.

Very useful thanks. What floating plants should I consider ? Something I've always wondered, if you get the ammonia/ nitrite down to zero , what do the bacteria feed on ?

    Stocking ideas, 125l Juwel Lido.

thank you, was considering hengeli as my shoaling species. My water is medium hard and the fish store said the Bolivian ram is one they stock, he didn't recommend apistos. Any other dwarf species I could consider. I will.graduall y restock so I'm no hurry.

After an unfortunate incident , I'll be looking to partially restock my tank. Currently have 3 neon rasbora ( possibly add another 3), 1 peppered Cory ( would add some more ) and 6 sparkling Guorami. Would like to add a dwarf cichlid, was thinking Bolivian ram. Any other suggestions to what...

    Biological media problem

Tap water came clear for nitrite and ammonia, retested tank water, ammonia clear but there was a bit of colour for nitrite, not clear but not pink enough to be first level, 0.25. Did make one other change when I added the biogravel and changed from seachem prime to API tapsafe , as recommended...

    Biological media problem

Thanks for your help, I'll test the tap water later today and take action as you suggest. The last fish to go in were the guoramis about a month ago and they seem fine I was even considering adding a ram as everything seemed.settled.
