    Threw my tank decorations away!

@JennySolano - keep that cut out of the aquarium water until it is fully healed, I can’t remember what you can catch but @Colin_T will you be able to tell the risks?

    Cycled tank still losing fish

I’m not sure from your description that the tank was fully cycled. https://www.fishforums.net/threads/cycling-your-new-fresh-water-tank-read-this-first.421488/ Heres the link to the sticky on cycling, have a read of that and see if what you have done matches those requirement.

    18 gallon pond stocking suggestions.

How heavy will it be…? Will the balcony cope with that much extra weight..? (I’ve got a balcony and have wondered about a water feature- rather than a pond as such)… Edit: to correct spelling

Fish dying one by one - Cycled tank

I’m sorry this is happening, it’s always upsetting losing the fish, and when something you’ve worked hard to develop goes wrong. I’m not anywhere as knowledgeable about diseases etc as @Colin_T and others that have posted so I’m not going to enter that bit of the debate. I do think your water...

    Stupid warning labels and such...

The local garden centre has a huge sign titled, ‘The Night Staff’ with two or three German Shepherds on it that goes on to say something like they can get to the gate in 4.6 seconds…can you…? 😂 I’ll get a photo next time I’m there

    Stupid warning labels and such...

I generally find it amazing that some of these warnings are actually in existence and then I switch to finding it amazing that some twit has done somethings SO STUPID that the warnings were needed in the first place 🤦‍♀️

Five gallon aquarium cycling and stocking

A really nicely planted tank with one Betta is a joy to sit and watch, and they seem to interact with you (I know I’m going slightly senile) 😊. Perhaps you could go more “aquascape” with the smaller tank, silent cycle (one Betta doesn’t cause a huge amount of waste)…and have him think he’s out...

    Different after heater

There was a thread recently where a lady cooked her husband arrowana (?) because he wasn’t keeping the tank as clean as he promised he would…😬

    Different after heater

I think they like 75-80 f. Hindsight is always so useful, but perhaps going up one degree a day might have been better - perhaps he’s worried you are trying to poach him..? 😂

Five gallon aquarium cycling and stocking

I’m not sure about guppies, they can have really floaty, flashy tails and can be seen as a threat by a Betta.

    Ammonia problem

Can you tell us what you exact readings are for the Ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, water hardness etc. Both from you tap water straight from the tap, and after it has been ‘stood’ for 24 hrs and in your tank? Someone will be able to give you advice based on the size of the issue then.

Five gallon aquarium cycling and stocking

Always a controversial subject, but in my opinion, Bettas should be kept on their own.

Fish dying one by one - Cycled tank

Those test kits seem to be showing ammonia at about 0.5 ppm and nitrites at 0.25 ppm. A large water should be done to reduce both of those to zero. (Remember to treat the tap water for chlorine etc.)

    Water changes during cycling.

I did, and if you Google, or read the ‘stickies‘ on here you will find out how it works. I do find your manner rather argumentative …

    Water changes during cycling.

There is a well documented “Silent Cycle” process that uses fast growing plants. Google.
  24. NannaLou

    Water changes during cycling.

Using plants in ‘Silent Cycling’ seems to be a well researched process and successful enough that some people state you can add a shoal of fish almost instantly.
  25. NannaLou

    Water changes during cycling.

Because she’s trying to cycle a tank really, really quickly, almost instantly quickly, and isn’t following the proper process. Fast growing plants are much better at absorbing ammonia therefore supporting the cycling (and safety) of any living thing being added to the tank.
  26. NannaLou

    Water changes during cycling.

Perhaps you should get your mother to read these threads? If you were only allowed 3 plants, you should have researched on the internet and bought three fast growing plants ( they would have probably been cheaper too). If your mother won’t let you have the things you need to do this properly...

    Water level….

@Lajos_Detari thank you for that very ’full’ 🙂 explanatio. The tank does have a lid, and it only contains guppies, so I will fill to the braces when I do my water change tomorrow 🙂
  28. NannaLou

    Water changes during cycling.

But you aren’t… you ARE NOT using loads of fast growing plants you ARE NOT using proper ammonia you ARE having living things in an uncycled tank. READ the sticky on cycling, decide which cycling process you will use and follow the *bleep* instructions TO THE LETTER

My betta is sick! Please see if anyone could give some suggestions

I don’t know enough to comment on the fishes health, but if there is any ammonia or nitrite you need to do an immediate water change until they are back to zero.

    Water level….

There was a comment on a post the other day where someone asked why the water level was so low… where should the water level be..? On my Betta tank I have a flat, ‘sit inside the rim’ cover and I always have the water about an inch below this so he can ‘get air’… On my upstairs tank, the water...

Hello @Colin_T - I’ve just had a little Google, I think you need to touch the home key and then there should be a little picture (on my phone it’s a little envelope with an ‘O’ for Outlook) I think your image might be a square of four little squares..? Fish dying one by one - Cycled tank

I think you need to be cautious with “loads of remedies”…what have you used/tried and why..? Some of the fish you have mentioned prefer hard water (Endlers, guppies) perhaps someone with more specific fish knowledge than I have might know if this could be negatively affecting the fish..?

not treating fish like any other pets! - added pass the 🐠🐟 at the bottom for fun

I have a cat, Norah - in the photo, she has some allergies….she gets fed the same food everyday, day in and day out…this does keep her happy, it’s good for her! She doesn’t break out in horrible, bloody, scabby sores, she doesn’t need to be on steroids… I think making huge, sweeping...

Anyone know anything about this tank..?

I haven’t quite got the space for the 80. And from other opinions, I’m questioning whether I want to get a “kit”. I’ve seen another tank: which has the same 60 x 30 footprint but taller and giving a 72 litre capacity, which would also allow me to get an Eheim heater and filter. I’m struggling...
