With first generation shop guppies they are weak so any ammonia can kill them and cause sever stress

i agree, all you can do with that size tank is a betta or some shrimp

i thought that looked like algae or diatoms on the rocks, but 4 hours of light for the majority of the week old not do that, maybe try turning of the light for a couple hours over the weekend. That being said I’m not a algae expert but someone who might no more will be along soon.

i second pearl gouramis, they are awesome! I just got a trio(hopefully) and they are a little shy at first but after a week or two of feeding daily they warm up to you, they are always out and about when you look at the tank from a distance though, and they are very aggressive feeders.

From what I’ve heard that’s fine, I don’t personally raise my corries eggs. But I’m sure someone will come along soon that has done it before so you can get a second opinion
