What are you doing today?

I just got back from my lfs. I bought several assassin snails. I have a pest snail issue in my South American 20 gallon long. I hope these critters live up to their name and clean house.

Hoping to set up a 5.5 gallon shrimp snack tank today.
First I need to get over my horrible headache and drink coffee...lots of coffee.
Feel better, Nat! I feel like I need a bad headache once in a while, just so I remember how wonderful it feels not to have one...

Yesterday, the weather forecast called for scattered snow flurries over my entire 4 hour drive home, so my daughters and I got into the car and headed here. It took over 6 hours, with a large snowfall, high winds, whiteouts and ice. The storm must have stalled over the region, because it just kept coming, contrary to the predictions. I'm an experienced bad weather winter driver, from an old job I had, and it was never that dangerous - although a lot of cowboy drivers headed for the ditches and fields. Steady with total concentration got us home, but it was a long day.

On the way out of the biggish city, I hit a good aquarium store, so I have a wee shoal of Pseudomugil gertrudae, some Taiwan moss and my first linebred fish in many years. It was inspired by @gwand - locally bred Apistogramma cacatuoides double or triple red. They are young and barely sexable, but a couple. If they become a pair, they'll remind me of the wild form I may never see again, and any young will always be in demand.

I had all these tanks prepped for the shipment canceled by the previous day's storm, and who can look at empty tanks? And this way, I can market myself to you guys as slightly less of a wild type purist.

So now, the whole family is here for 10 days. This afternoon, the cousins, nieces, nephew, and their kids flood into town, and it will be fun. With Christmas falling on a wednesday, people patched together vacation days to make a week of it. It should be enjoyable.

Thanks Tom, Excedrin kicked in and I feel ready to get the tank out of the garage (detached and it's 14 F right now 🥶).
Hope your day is going well.

A bit exceptional day today. One in the year is usually such. I just came home from performing in my family's and Finnish Riihimäki Free Church Christmas concert. I participated with a flute and piccolo, which I don't even play very often. It was exciting times, since we didn't have much chances to practise this year. But I must admit, God answered prayers and everything went very very well and people claimed they enjoyed it. I'm very much amazed. Picture from one of the most challenging moments for my flute, which also went well.
Now the Christmas has began, for me. :) Happy Christmas time to all of you!

That looks difficult! My church has a Christmas party and talent show tonight. I am thinking about playing something on my euphonium instead of my usual whistling. Something unexpected can be fun. :)

What am I doing today you ask?
I'm promoting the 2024 Tank of the Year Tournament. It is very important that all members vote so we can award the owner of THE tank that is the "best of the best." they will but without an endless supply of snails you may find "there can be only one" at the end

What did i do today - it is sometime hard to remember it all; not really. I adjusted my new ro system so the booster pump wouldn't go on/off/on/off/on/off - basically it has a presure regulator (these guys are great for $350 - 500gpd unit with pressure sensitive booster pump - you need the pump to get the water through the 500 gpd membrane). If i were doing it all over from the start i'd get one of those 3? foot 1000 gpd membranes a water jar a couple of sentiment membrane and a really nifty pressure sensitive pump and build my own - but i really needed the water fast so i could do water changes tomorrow and $350 isn't so bad until you have to buy a new membrane...

What else - well i fed all my itsy bitsy frys - my geo bit my finger again - i really hate feeding those guys - my chocolate spawned again so all the fishes shifted left ('cept the chocolate pair who are on the far right); the me spawn again - not going to mess with them - i have 40ish frys in a 10 that i'm raising and i think that's enough for the next few years but they finally gotten to the point of looking like mini-me if you use a magnifying glass. A couple of my 3 months old a. wolli frys are playing female turning bright yellow.

I unpackaged a box i received today - a pair of peace lily for my aquariums - and handed the postman a nice christmas whatever. What else did i accomplish today - oh yea my wc 1/2 inch nijjensi female got trapped so i untrapped her and she was so thankful she bit my finger. Sigh. The thanks we get for trying to give a helping hand. Oh well at least she didn't take the whole hand off. The male just sat back and laugh at the whole thing.

What else - i guess that's enough to recount for today though there was a bit more from 5am to noon that i think i rather forget.
