Sounds good. If I was going to use it how much would I need? I would like to try and get as close to the middle of the GH required for all the species. You could, but there is no real need as the GH is not excessive for the species named.
Sounds good. I'll just leave it the way it is then . Thanks!Hmm, would not go into RO water as it’s fairly complex.
But With your choices of livestock would be at their mid to upper ranges of pH and hardness levels but should be fine as long as the parameters stays stable.

If you do choose that route its fairly easy in your case. Mixing your tap water 50/50 with RO would give you a GH of 88ppm. You don't need to do anything else - except dechlorinator for the tap water.Sounds good. If I was going to use it how much would I need? Yea we actually have a filter for drinking water, so I would never run out. The GH of 88 ppm sounds really nice for the fish, I might consider it when I get more stock. If you do choose that route its fairly easy in your case. The downside is you would always need a supply of RO on hand in case you need an emergency water change.
I'll check it outI also use RO water for my tetras, I use a TDS-3 water hardness pen meter to test the hardness of my water as I mix in RO. I am lucky because the well water is around 240ppm but I live on the edge of town where the water comes from Lake Michigan and is run through a RO process that drops it to 134ppm. I mix RO water to drop it to around 50ppm. The pen meter is not expensive and make it easy to test your water. I bought mine on E-bay for around 10 USD.
I did it litre by litre every other waterchangeHow would I acclimate my fish to a lower GH? Should I start with like 5% RO and work my way up to 50% with each water change?
Nice method. I'm not gonna start using the RO until I can get my hands on one of those pens. There are several ways to do it, I just started out with 5 RO to 15 treated tap water and increased the RO a few gallons each WC until I had a 15 RO to 5 tap water then using my hard water pen meter adjusted the RO until it equaled 50 ppm.
