Phew! What a rush to do the initial execution! Total time taken, 3hrs++

I had the old media in the filter and even put in my Biohome bio-media in the tank as well(the white netting if you notice) plus the previous shrimp soil and some of the old water, I hope the process will be faster..

The pebbles are not in yet, it will surely make the stones layout more natural!

As for now, the stock will be my HMPK betta, El Rojo, with 10 Red Cherry Shrimps and 2 Yamato/Amano Shrimps...

Tune in for more updates!

After looking at my tank FTS, I am undecided whether to put more plants especially at the back-right corner of the tank (the area where the filter is)....

Should I? Or just leave that area as it is?

Anw, the pebbles are in.. Loving them!

Will get the pics uploaded soon coz waiting for the cloudy water to clear..

Hi there!
I think the tank design is a little bit off. I'd place those large pebbles in the back of the tank instead of the front.
Defenitely add more plants, right now it doesn't look very natural. I also suggest moving the wood a little bit on the right or left.
Right now it is right in the middle and makes it really odd.

Usually, when setting up an aquascape, you want your focal point to be on a tiercary line.

Tks for the thought..

I assume that is referring to the rule of thirds of aquascaping? I want to rescape my own tank to try that design. It's pretty cool. Interesting examples here:

Wah! That link is too complicated for me! definitely not my standard level! haha!

I will just do what I can.. Amateur-ly.... hahaha.. tks anyway!

I like it so far. You have left plenty of room for the anubias to grow. They grow slow but in a year they will fill out your little tank nicely. Are you going to do any foreground plants?

Couldn't you do pygmy corys with the betta? Getting a little school of 6 won't be too many in an 8gl IMO.

Personally I would not add cories to a 8 gal tank, this tank is higher than its is in length.
And the base dimension footprint is not that much, especially with the wood and decor and not many plants for cover.

I've always been of the opinion, ANY cories should not be put in anything less than a 10 US gal, preferably 15+ US Gals, even pygmy cories and tank must have plenty of cover in terms of caves, wood and plants.

EDIT - it is do-able to have 6 pygmys in a 8 gal but not recommended imho.
