Just have to wait and see now! Anyway better luck this time. How are the remaining few fry going - have they survived?

Unfortunately they didn't make it

Does it work if you copy and paste the youtube link to your browser? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRNM6LvIack&context=C34735b9ADOEgsToPDskIyLeQ7F8h370h4S5T5g9Rx

There must be over 300 eggs this time
w00t.gif
. I should start to see whether they are fertile or not in about 12-24 hours from now. There are a few that definitely are not fertile(you can see the white ones in the photo, those are dead), but that is expected. On close inspection of the others I can see that they have very quickly absorbed water, which allows the embryo to separate from the egg case. This is a good sign that the water is spot on, because if the water is to hard or contains to many minerals then it can't penetrate the egg and the egg will quickly die. I so hope I get everything right this time

We are now about 6-8 hours away from hatching, and I am pleasantly surprised as it looks like my boy did indeed spread the seed
w00t.gif
. Only a handful of the eggs are bad, and I can see the embryos have formed in most of them, so there should be a really good number of wrigglers this time.

All looking good at the moment then - I really hope this lot get through!

Me too. I think having a big batch of fry should hopefully up the odds this time.......don't want to count my chickens(fish) just yet though, but here's hoping

Got my fingers crossed. No legs though as I gotta walk to the bus stop in ten minutes!

that link worked for me! thanks a lot. checked out some of your other videos while i was there. some great stuff :good: my fav is probably the first swimming lesson. i could watch that for hours!

good to hear you have a high volume of potentials this time around, should boost the odds. gunna try anything different this time around after they hatch??

Not gonna change too much, I don't want to mess around with them to be honest. Only things I changed on this go so far have been using RO water with the TDS set at 60 ppm. When I have been adding the Formalin each day I have done it by injecting it directly at the eggs(with the use of a syringe and a length of air line), so that the eggs have had a real good coating, but with still safe levels in the water for the fish. Last thing was I switched from running air stones to setting a spray bar 3 inches above the water line, and firing it at the point where the water surface meets the glass, and turned the water into fizzy soda! There is so much oxygen in it now that the parents are coated in fine bubbles.......they look like they have been swimming in Champagne

. I hope the extra oxygen will strengthen the fry. Also the way the spray bar is set means that there is very little water flow around the tank, as the air stones were creating a giant whirlpool.

They haven't started to hatch just yet, but are very close. Looks like 100-150 of the eggs are formed and going to hatch.

Wrigglers hatched through the night, and there are a good number this time. At the point just before the swimming stage(after 60+ hours) I will remove the guard and let the parents gather them up, and group them together. As at the moment, they are rather spread around on the cone.

Mum and Dad had a bit of a lovers tiff today......I'm guessing he didn't give her the right Christmas gift!

The fighting was relentless and starting to get quite serious. So I have had to remove the female, and leave dad as a single parent family

He is actually the more attentive of the two, and I have my suspicions that it was the female eating the fry before. He appears happy on his own, and is watching his little wrigglers intently now
