Thanks Ny. So far it has been an interesting, enjoyable and at times a very frustrating journey. I guess if it were easy, then it would not be quite so interesting. The challenge keeps me going to be honest. I won't give up and I hope I can show you my little Discus babies growing up to be Discus kids very soon......... Watch this space!

That's it, the challenge. I can't wait I really, really hope it happens for you this time with this new male who by the way is gorgeous. It's like a soap, waiting for the next suspense filled episode
I have guppies which must be the easiest fish in the world to breed only my males stay at one side of the tank and the females at the other

Caz, I have had the lights on for 3 days straight, and so it has a covering of algae on it

. However, they are feeding off the parents skin now!!!!

I think they are going to be OK. I will take the cone out in a bit. Just now they are still using it to corral the young ones, so I will give them a few hours to get feeding confidently. Little fish for Christmas.......Cheers Santa

Yey for feeding! :good: it was just a comment really - if they were having problems distinguishing light and dark, a lighter cone might help... glad it seems to be working out this time. Fingers crossed they've got it nailed now and each subsequent one is even better! :fun:

OK, so getting them to lay eggs has not been the toughest part of the challenge, but I have employed the usual tactics, such as a big water change with water a couple of degrees cooler, feeding live food, etc, etc....................... BUT I think I have just stumbled upon something. My girl was desperate to get it on and was showing Turk boy her moves, but he was just sitting there looking like a geek in a strip club. For all of his bravado in the main tank, it seems he is a bit of a flop in the bedroom

So I took him out, as I could see she was getting frustrated with him, and I put her ex back in......Now you have to remember I had just chased him around the tank with a net, and then carried him over to the breeding tank and dropped him in.....stressful right?? Well, obviously not when he is thinking with the little head and not the big one! As soon as he saw her he went crazy! Like long lost lovers, and he instantly got his groove on and showed her his moves on the dance floor.......

I grabbed it on video(this is honestly started about 30 seconds after I dropped him in), goes on a little, but worth a look. The guy is the slightly larger fish by the way........

I couldn't help but laugh when the music started playing in the video. You may just get your pure breed fry this time round :hyper:

Holy cow! Did this girl need some luvin' ?!! She has just dropped a Gazillion eggs, I just hope my boy has enough Man Milk to make the shake!

I am not feeling confident that my guy has the trouser power to have laid his seed over such a vast area!
