OK so picked up my new tank yesterday, it's a Seabray Dolphin, 4 feet long, very heavy.

I got a man and a van to help get it home and unfortunately on the way the van had an accident, nothing too serious and everyone involved had nothing more than some minor whiplash.
But it was enough for the tank to break the straps holding it down and slam into the bulkhead between the goods area and passenger/driver area.
The bulkhead has a pretty big dent in it, the tank, nothing wrong, it is still in one piece!
I was sure when it happened there would be nothing but broken glass left, I am quite frankly amazed!

(Mods feel free to move this if you think its posted in the wrong place)

What saved it was it being empty. I'm sure it was the bottom of the tank that had the impact, a stronger point than the top.
Last week my table broke, two legs went from underneath it and it smashed the side panel.
All fixed now though but I did have a swimming pool in the kitchen for a wee while.

physics lol all to do with angles and pressure lol... but I'd be careful when filling just in case there were some hairline fractures that might go when you fill it.

glad everyone walked away from the accident!

Was the side of the tank that took the impact, the tank was laying on the bed of the van with what would be the back on the tank down.

Very glad everyone walked away!

I am planning to clean the tank up and fill it slowly to check its still watertight (was actually on my to do list before I picked it up the wonders of 2nd hand from ebay) I wont be starting to cycle it untill the end of August due to holidays, so I have plenty of time if there are hidden issues.

The bionic tank.

I would have no such luck. First pot hole and it would be BANG!

Ran a test at the weekend,
slowly filled the tank to beyond normal capacity, left it for an hour

Not a drop escaped, the tank is solid still!

Beaut!

Get it cycled and stocked! .. and we like pics here too..... ;)

Planning to start cycling when I get back from Holiday on the 28th, so look out for the cycle log then lol.

Anyone in Croydon/South London that has some mature filter media they are able to donate at that time would be great. (Might even be a beer in it for you ;) lol)

Taken a picture of the tank as it is. It's too heavy to move onto the stand by myself, but will get it shifted before its filled.

Tank dimensions are:
Length 48 inches
Height 31 inches (25 inches of water)
Width 15 inches

Wow! Glad everyone was okay after that accident. I can't believe your tank is still in one piece though. If that were my tank it would be broken in too many pieces to count. ;)

Hey I'm near london and planning on changing filters due to the external one leaking. I don't know what filter is inside had it for ten years lol..... But your more than welcome to some of it :)
