Im so excited finally got my sorority tank filled.

So this guy wanted to re-home some betta females, and I said that I would like them, when I got home last night, there were 5 beautiful females waiting for me.

They are all together in a 35l tank, that had been set up and fully cycled, with bog wood and real plants. It used to be my endler tank, but had a shuffle round and now its just for them.

The have settled overnight, and seem quite happy this morning.

Photos to follow as I dont know which type i have, just wanted to share the news of my beautiful new girls :hyper:

Any helpful hints and tips would be most wellcome im a newbie with bettas.

thanks a lot and regards to all xx[/img]

How about some photos of them in their permanent home?

Does the blue one at the bottom have really long fins or is it the distortion of the glass??

I can see a pink girl! I have one like that . I named her Sakura ^^

hi thanks a lot every one yes more pics will follow, just removed the fake plants with real one, so letting them settle in first, added a coconut cave, and took out an ornament, as reading up I was worried about the sharpness of it with their fins.

Luke emma yes the blue one does have long fins, I wondered myself if it was a boy, but no flaring or anything.
Honeythorn, yes they are are beautiful but the pink girl is very pretty, the guy said she can be a bit of a gitbag, but I havent had any problems yet, but watching closely!

Just hope they do ok and settle into their new home.

Sakura is the boss of the girls tank so the gitbag thing may be accurate after all!

Is it me or is there six girls in the jar???
Or did you have a single one already!

Er no its not you he offered me 6 but one didnt make it and i only received 5

that pic is the one the guy sent me to show me what I could have,

well spotted soph-betta

I got one pink one, two blue long finned ones, and two of the stripy ones.

They are all beautiful, and settling in well now ive finished tweaking the tank.

Beautiful fish. Congrats.

Just a bit of info - just because a betta flairs, doesn't mean it's a boy! I brought home a second female for my primary betta and she flipped out flaring her gills like crazy. It was enough that I decided to take the second female back and put other fish in the tank instead.

I've yet to see a 'striped' betta, those are stress/fear stripes. My iridescent female gets them if I move her favorite rock across the tank; they can get them for serious reasons just as they can get them for silly ones, and they just show up and go away based on the fishes mood-not through conditioning, etc.

As far as sexing your other mystery gender fish (the ones with the long fins), look for the ovipositor (egg tube, looks like a white dot or nub) behind their ventrals. All female bettas have them, but some females have MORE then others. I have seen young males have them-which can cause a lot of confusion-but they lose them as they grow.

Good luck with your new girls! (Or boy! xD)
