My 2 guppies gave birth to 38 guppie fry. They are right know in a breeding tank. And I think its to small for them. And i don't know can you put them i cold water becuase I hvae a 5.5 gallon tank and it has a pump but not a heater. The pet store says that it is okay but im not sure? Do you think that its okay? Or not? Its just that i dont want them to die so i want to do whats right. Aslo how long does it take for them to grow up?
Also about baby betta fry! How long does it take for the male betta to make a bubble nest?I had a betta from my friend in a small bowl and he had a bubble nest but she didnt know how long it took for him to build the nest? I put the female in and they had eggs then fry! But i just want to know how long it takes for the male betta to make a buble nest?

So please help me with theses 2 things!!
Thank-you
Jeanelle Ritchie

You need a heater really. I think 2-3 months for them to "Grow up".

I keep my guppy fry with no heater but they are in the warmest room in the house and have a light
Male will bubblenest when happy or conditioned, betta breeding is very time and money consuming so do a lot of reading before you atempt it :good:

i sell mine to the LFS or people i know have fish tanks, you don't get much for them though, i keep them without a heater until they are big enough to go back with the adults

Most FS will offer you credit off items in exchange for fish.
Do you know big als pet store. He has all the diffrent fish from around the world. He has 7f sharks for sale. But he said that if they are in good healf he would give me 5$ each for the males and 4$ for the females. And so i can keep them in cold water! But i was woundering about how many months can you keep them in there for?also i just have my baby fry in a breeding net in my tank and there is 2 diffrent ages of fry in there there is one thats a month old and one thats 2 days old and wree born yesterday. So when i put them in a bigger tank should i seperate the bigger ones from the smaller ones? But i bigger ones dont eat the littler one though!

You can keep guppies in a non heated tank. But they wont grow near as fast. Also, betta's only take a couple hours to make a nest. Jus tput a female in a cup( she has to be full of eggs0 let him make a nest, and then put her in until they breed( make sure she isnt being bullied to much).

I went and put my 79 fry into my old ten gallon tank with a under gravel bubble filter. They seem to like it. I only put gravel where the under gravel filter is and the rest is bare. They seem to like it. There is no heater though! I am goingt o get a heater very soon but for the next couple of days they will bein cold water. Also im sorta confused? So i need to know how long you can have the fry in cold water like up yo 3 months or so? Maybe 4?

My aquarium that they were in got way to hot and all died except for like 20 fry!It was so sad

Sorry! How did it get too hot?
I dont know? Just when i looked at the thermomiter it was at 92f. Thats hot!! So i dumped a couple buckets of cold water in the tank. But all the babys except fro a few dyed and also my male (only male)guppy is dieding and hes my only male. I dont know what to do. I think ill move them into the 10 gallon of cold water? Do you think i should?Aslo i ahev to buy a new male and a couple more females a heatwr and a filter(maybe a filter)? Also i think the water got to hot beacuse my cat eather jumped on top of the tank or some one in my family turned up the heat!!

taht is weird. Is your tank on a heating vent? Or is it by a space heater? Becasue 92 F water eaither is being heated by a heater or the room temp is 92 F. Were they alive in the 92 F. Or were they already dead? If you do put them in cold water, put them ina cup and slowy introduce the cold water, as it will kill them if they are dumped into it, the shock will kill them.
