Bit of an update, i have removed the juwel jumbo internal filter , i am amazed at how much more tank room it creates , my filtration is now a FX5

Some pics my friend! Some pics! I'm gonna remove mine eventually, how hard was it to remove?

As requested , a photograph of the tank without the Juwel Jumbo internal, the Fluval 4+ internal is there just to maturly cycle the tank and will be removed as soon as the FX5 is capable of running the tank on its own.

Thanks
Adam

I will do in a few months, want to get an fx5 in there like yours, debating weather or not to leave both the 405 and the ex1200 on there as well, or is that just going a bit mad? Originally the plan was to move the 405 to the other tank.

i would leave just 2 on the tank - the FX5 and the EX1200. Fill the FX5 with bio media and the EX1200 with floss. Then you can clean the EX1200 in tap water so that the FX5 is still doing the bio filtration.

Thats what i woulod do

Sounds like a good plan, do you think the fx5 can replace my current bioload on the 3 filters? I might need to keep some bio in the ex1200.. the jumbo has a lot of sponges in it and at the moment i've packed the 405 with biomax. 1 prefilter 3 x biomax. i suppose if it would all fit in the fx5 i can chuck the biomax from the 405 and perhaps the jumbo sponges in there then gradually replace the sponges in it with biomax or bioballs. What have you got in yours? Just looking at fx5 reviews to see whats inside them :)

in my FX5 i have : the big 6 foam bloack round the outside. Top basket another foam pad with bio rings underneath it. 2nd tray= Bio balls. 3rd trap (bottom) is floss at the moment.

Im currently looking to get a 405 , this is my media plan:

FX5 - all trays bio balls

405 - (4 trays) 2 biomax - 2 floss - maybee some prefilter.

Hope this hels a bit

Yeah thanks, would the fx5 work ok removing some of the 25 litres of foam from it and replacing it with some bio media do u think?
Oh a few things on the 405, its noiser than the ex1200 by quite a lot and it also chucks some crap from the ribbed hosing back into the tank when u turn it back on after a clean, which is pretty poor. The flow rate is a bit better than ex1200 and i do like the media layout on the 405 though.

i dont really think you could put bio media in place of the sponge as there would be nothing to hold it in place. Pesonally i would leave the sponge in as this will act as bio filtration aswell once matured.

EX1200 - i find that when i used to clean my EX1200 , a lot of crap was trown out from their pipes!! lol

TBH guys you are going over kill on filtration with the fish you guys keep and fx5 is more than enough you wont need any other filtration. If it was me I would set your filters up the same as I have mine thats also if you can afford to if not there is a simpler way. Right I run 2 fx5`s on my tank both full of ceramic rings and the sponges that come with it. Then I run 2 eheim 2252 internals with 3 media baskets on each the bottom just with a eheim spinge then I fill the top 2 compartments with polyfilter that I change every 4 weeks although this is costly my water is crystal if this is to expensive for you just use polywool. thats all you will need if you want some pics of how it all looks setup just ask but I think I have prettymuch covered it.
