The Behemoth Tank

I just hunt weeds and fish these days.
The client can check the tank while at the office or away.
Be a bit more than 2 weeks till I head that way again.

I can't say anything other than outstanding! I cannot comprehend ever having an aquarium of that size, the overall impression of nature is truly awe inspiring! Someone mentioned community dynamics and that really is the tank to allow fish to be kept almost true to life!

Here's an update, 24 Altums, all eating well, 30 Discus. Never got the HC growing well, switching to Utricularia grass.

I'm not going down there for another month or two, I'm redoing an office tank for the same client, he's swapping a 150 gal for 300 gal for the office(300 gal seems so small).
This is not my photo but one the client sent.

Regards,
Tom Barr

That looks fantastic! Very natural looking.

Could you give us an idea of relative size? Perhaps how big the discus are?

Cheers, and Merry Christmas!

Check out the start of the thread, the discus are massive.

Tom - looking good, should look a lot nicer in a couple of months. Thanks for the update.

That tank really has turned out well, nice use of colour in the middle and the discus colours look real nice against the plants!!

Out of interest, what method of measuring CO2 do you use on this tank? :p

For CO2: I use two types, a pair of disc and 2 x 3/4" mazzii venturis.

The Biggest Discus I've ever seen. 9" or so.
The tank is 12 feet long or 305 cm
I'll be redoing the tank later, maybe in a month or so.

Please get some pics, I am dying to see some pics... It looks really nice, wish I could afford something like that...

could you imagine a tank that size....

with bright rainbow gravel....

ceramic houses....

and flower pots....

housing nothing but guppies?

In other words... I think it looks great :D

Here you can see just how big those Discus are, they are full blown contest size.
The Altums are not that small.

They are doing super.
No fish are shy nor agressive.

Tom Barr

"Super" is the word alright. I don't think one can appreciate the size of this without another frame of reference i.e. someone sitting next to it.

Impressive is an understatement. Kudos Tom.
