It's not aquarium photos, but it's fish, and fish related!

So my Mum and Dad went for a holiday to the Dominican Republic to celebrate my Mum's birthday. My Dad just got a new digital camera, and underwater housing to replace his underwater film camera he's been using for many a decade.

Here are just some of the photos.

You can see that lots of coral is bleached, this is due to El Niño raising the temperature of the waters :(

The camera arrived just in time, the day before they left. So he didn't have a lot of time to play about with it. But I think he got some pretty decent shots, i'm sure you'll agree.

Thanks for looking.

OMG! Those are some pretty cool pictures. I'll take some when I go diving this summer (if I get an underwater camera, I'm going to get some pictures of sharks, the non aggresive ones, but still cool).

Great photos! I hope you had a good time, i plan to go diving at some point, when i have the time/money. I bet the Dominican Republic was gorgeous, you lucky *expletive* ;)

Fantastic!!! My 2 favorite are of the Bubble tipped anemone and the pic 3 from the top, with all the tetraish looking fish :D

Edit: What kind of camera did you use to take those pictures?

Stunning Pics ! Diving's just awesome hey ? B)

Those are some good pics.

Where about it Dom Rep did you folks go?
We still have two cameras from our trip this summer that we haven't developed.
Given that they were 5 quid from lidl I don't think they will be that high quality..........................

simply amazing! Your dad is really talented. Does he share your interest in fishkeeping?
My Dad used to keep a coldwater marine tank, but I think what with work and family he didn't really have time to keep it up! But he's always interested in what i'm doing and how much I have learned. I've been researching marine tanks for some time now, and I can now finally talk to my dad about some of the marine life he's been swimming with for years and years!

Great pics, love the eels and goat fish in particular :# :snap: :kewlpics:
Yea the goatfish is pretty cool, looks almost like koi! My Dad says it burrows about in the sand to dig up critters, and big shoals of fish follow behind catching all the little bits it misses

I like the squirrel fish, such huge eyes, reminds me of the radioactive squirrel in that episode of the simpsons :p

The camera he has is an Olympus C7070WZ, 7.1mpix. And he has the Olympus underwater housing for it too.

Those are some good pics.

I can't quite remember where it was they went i'm afraid!

You should definetally get those pics developed, never know you might get a couple of dead nice ones!

Thank you for your kind comments everyone, my Dad will really appreciate it.

I do a lot of diving myself and take the odd underwater pic.

If you have photoshop I have a really good action file to use as a plugin which is great for diving pics and adds all the red back in.

I will do a demonstration on some of your pics to show you what it does if you want. Could email the action to you sometime.
