Other than bettas and goldfish (when they are small) there really isnt anything else.

You can buy algae discs for it. They may work :)

Personally I prefer Instant Ocean brand, but any marine salt should do. As long as its not freshwater aquarium salt. Sally :)

If your having a lot of algae growth it may be caused be the tpye of lighting you have/ leaving lights on too long. You may also want to check your nitrates. Just a thought :)
