    Fresh Water Clams?

OK, ok, ok. I inherited a few of these. Any other sites, etc. to check out, as mine appear to be neither the Asian Clam or the Mussel mentioned, and I'd love to know if these are safe for my planted or my brackish (puffer food). They look to be Corbicula fluminea. Any help would be appreciated.

Where Do You Get The Snails For Your Puffers?

Check the planted tank at your lfs. There are usually a ton of "pest snails" in there. Ask if you can have some. Many stores will just let you take them, some will charge you, but not much. To keep the pest snails breeding, you're going to need a separate tank, as most pest snails can't handle...

Check out Nmonks signature. (he posts in the brackish forum regularly). It has a handy link to a brackish calculator he developed.

    African Id, Please

ooh! Even better. I'll just watch for males, and possibly separate them. Would it be any problem if I ended up with only one of the Kenyi's? Male or female? Or would I still need to keep a few others to displace aggression? by the way, you've all been loads of help!!! :drinks:

    African Id, Please

Thanks for the help!!! I completely agree. We had done months of research and had several lists, each one with compatible fish and the proper numbers to keep them in for our tank. We purchased a "bait locker" for long distance transport, and drove 2 hours to the only lfs that we felt we could...

    African Id, Please

We bought these guys (the blue ones) from a tank labeled "misc. malawi". I know, I know, always a terrible idea. Regardless, anybody have a sense of what these are? They're approx. 2". I've spent some time on google, fishbase, and a few others to no avail. I have some ideas, but nothing solid...

    Protein Skimmer

This has especially helped me with messy eaters (read: puffers) in high-end brackish. Because you're not going to be getting the same amount of "skimmate" as a full marine tank, you can generally get away with the cheaper air powered options.

    Bumble Bee Gobies

In addition, I wouldn't suggest going out and purchasing a BBG. But if this is a matter of "I've got one, now what?", then let me say I have had success with a single BBG and a single GSP kept in a 55g tank at 1.008sg. That said, I have no intention of keeping them together like this forever...

Do I Have To Eventually Make Them Full Marine?

And in this range low-end protein skimmers would be beneficial to maintaining water quality.

    Stocking Suggestions

I was curious what I could possibly stock a 34 us gallon aquarium (3 feet long) with. My better half would like African Cichlids. Would this be enough room? The tank is filtrated with a Fluval 405 (for up to 100g). We are sufferers of Multiple Tank Syndrome, and pretty much all of the others...

    New Setup-- River Cobbles

Most building supply stores sell an egg-crate style louvre for recessed ceilings. Googled it. It cuts simply with metal snips. Around here we can get a 2 foot by 4 foot piece for around $12. Spikey! great tank, and sorry to hijack your thread!! I've done something similar with flat rocks in a...
