Your First Fish

My first fish was a female fantail goldfish.

I had various goldfish in bowls over the years up until I was about 10, then I had none for a few years, then my dad bought me a tank and I picked out 4 fancy goldfish, with the really tacky names(I thought it was hilarious at the time) fish, chips, peas & gravy. I then added 2 blackmoors from a v.dodgy petshop that sold me(a schoolkid at the time) any animal I liked, they had whitespot and died, the original 4 survived it though(I didn't treat them as didn't know you could). I can't remember how long I had them for, it was probably 6 months - 1 year. I didn't have any fish after that until my husband bought me a black moor last year, I bought a juwel 240 in january, found out how to care for fish properly care of this forum and since then have bought 5 more tanks so I'm defo addicted now!

The one my dad bought was about 15G if I remember correctly, I didn't know anything about keeping fish, the only time I did a water change was when the water started to go a bit murky, didn't cycle, didn't add de-chlorinator, have no idea how they survived for so long, poor things. The tank I have now for my 3 fancy's is 30G but that's only until I move then they'll be getting split between a 40G and a 35G.
