There goes the new sump!

Well went for a snug fit for the baffles and got two in and sealed up then with the third 'POP'

I nearly cryed............

Back to the LFS with my tail between my legs

I think its a lesson learnd today, I've already cut the next set of baffles out a little smaller this time so hopefuly this won't happern again!

Oh wow, that sucks :/. I cut my baffles with about 10-20 thousandths of an inch of empty space on either side of them... You dont want them snug at all, loose is better. Remember, they see MINIMAL pressure as they're really just bubble traps, the outside walls carry all the weight of water. Thats a lame way to learn a lesson though :(

A snug fit really isnt best, you want them just wide enough for the sump with a tiny bit of space between the baffles and the walls, that tiny space can easily be filled in with silicone.

Now you know why my baffles are always set at an angle to the sides of the tank ;)
Not only does it make an interesting sump but it has other benefits too :p

:( :(

Well getting a new sump to day lets see if this one makes it to be a sump and no a rat tank then a skip tank.

Just remember the baffles don't need to be a perfect fit as silicone can fill small gaps and placing them at an angle solves oversized problems.

You're making a sump not a display tank so great globs of silicone are ok ;)

Well got them in with out the tank cracking, took the advise and didn't worrie about how it looked just how it worked. Watch this space
