Sooo..
I had a yo-yo problem.. he was a complete a****** to put it bluntly. Biggest regret purchasing him and the shop should NOT of aloud me to get him on his own (learning curve I will research all fish before purchase from here onward) well after countless attempts to catch him.. catching him twice and him escaping the breeding box.. TWICE!! To now I finally caught him again without causing huge stress to the rest of the tank and he’s currently sat in an old sea monkey ocean zoo. Anyone want him before I return him to the shop?? naa seriously.. either way he’s going tomorrow without a doubt and my other little babies can all be peaceful and calm again without being harassed

I've never kept yoyos but I hear they can be aggressive. Glad you're able to find him a new home, and you've learned rule #1 of fish keeping: Do your own research and never take the pet store's advice seriously!

Pfft! I never thought a fish could be so violent! I witnessed the worst thing in my entire life because of him a couple days ago during a water change and one of my poor rummy noses suffered a cruel horrible death because of him I would not recommend these loaches to anyone starting out unless they have a big enough tank to keep a few of them as they need company from their own kind and lots of space. I’m new to the hobby and still learning myself so it’s been a harsh reality check that’s for sure. But least I can now do a water change of the tank properly without stressing or worrying he’s going to torpedo himself at any of my other fish and devour them like he has done recently! The tank is already a million times more chilled out since I got him out of there and it’s only been about an hour or so. Cheerio yo-yo Loach

Here’s a video of his more mild behaviour so this just shows, this isn’t even close to his worst! This is actually nothing in comparison to when he really goes. It’s like he nos when I’m trying to record him because he stops when the camera comes out. Proper kn**head

They need to be kept in groups of 10 or more and in a decent sized tank. I had 20 in a 4 x 2 x 2ft tank with rainbowfish and barbs and they were fine and never caused problems. However, when stressed from being on their own, and in the confines of a small tank, they can behave erratically and attack small fish.

My group is at 6 (the minimum I would recommend) after a few deaths and I really enjoy having them around. My 55 is a pretty chill tank, but still has movement in it. My favorite community tank in the house. I am glad you are taking him back and saving yourself and the fish a lot of stress.

That’s exactly what’s happened. I had just this one in a 60L and it’s far too small for him. He’s just too much to cope with and I don’t have the space to get more atm. I’m looking at bigger ones at the moment been looking at a 300l and a 600l (supposedly, though measurements are questionable) but I can’t wait and keep him any longer I’ve lost a couple of fish now due to his aggressive behaviour and it’s not fair on him or the little fish he’s in with

That’s what I mean. It just not fair on him being as clearly miserable as he is or scaring the other fish like he does. I’ve been trying for weeks now literally tried all the little tips to try and change it just until I can get the bigger tank but I’ve ran out of options really now and I can’t find any tanks near enough to me to be able to start up cycle and get it all ready quick enough it’s just not fair anymore. I did try because when I got him he was such a little character and it wasn’t a problem but as times gone on and he’s got bigger obviously his territory has got bigger and he’s clearly getting lonely and stressed out. I’ve had to do something

He’s left the sea monkey tank for the night.. and at my own risk hes back in the breeding box for the night. But this time I’ve reinforced it and put the divider that the fry drop threw inside ontop and the lid. He has no way of jumping out then like he has twice threw the lid

Usually when you put a schooling fish alone they lash out with aggression, and even if you get more he might reject them. But I doubt it would have been an issue if he was in a group of six or more, that’s usually the number for schooling fish.

The plan was to get more once I got the bigger tank. But it’s got too bad now and I can’t drag it out any longer I can’t find a bigger tank yet it’s taking longer then I hoped he’s not coping well in the breeder box right now il post a video in a sec for advice
