My Yellow Labidochromis was murdered by its blue tankmate last night! Can be the only reason. He was fine yesterday, and this morning, dead! Mr Blue is now harrassing my mating pair of convicts. Time to hurry up and get the breeder tank going for my convicts. Don't know what got into the blue guy. They have all been sharing this tank for two months now, and were tankmates for a year before they were moved to it.

mr blue is lookin for a whoopin messin w/a breeding pair of cons.i don't know why he attacked the lab, what size tank are they in?
africans and ca/sa generally won't get along anyway(different body language)so it's understandible,he's proly growing up and feels it's time to take over, but those con won't run for long trust me.

oh!!very sorry to hear about the lab :( ,does mr blue have a common name or sci name?

If your Mr. Blue is the same as my Bloo (ps. elongatus) then I know how you feel. My Bloo is a murderer too - killed his wife while still on honeymoon :( and rules the tank with an iron fin :)

Sorry to hear about your yellow labi - I have 3 and they're really lovely fish -

Mr. Blue is a Labi just like the yella fella. They all share a 29gal

Only four of them, well three now. He usually runs from the cons, but I don't know what has gotten into him.

Now I am in the situation where I have one large cichlid to house after I move the convicts to the safety of a breeding tank. :grumpy:

wait so mr. bloo is a yellow lab? :what: :hmm:
maybe he's guarding fry,is this possible?

NOPE!!!!!!!!! he's a wild blue form of caeruleus at a guess lol
You dont very often get them over here................dunno why?????????????????????????

But he is a lake malawi cichlid so he is totally unsuited to his Convict tank mates ;)

G.L you should know better lmfao :p

J/K m8 lol :p

Exactly Pete, I should have known better. But they were sharing the 55 gallon alright. but I had to take it down and then put them in a 29 gallon, I thought they would remain on good terms, but....

I must admit that when needs must the devil drives here too sometimes m8 :what: and i too have had to keep Convicts and Malawi's together before now out of sheer desperation lol
I have also kept Malawi's and Tangenicans together too :what: (not good) lol
