they are feeding great, i was feeding brine shrimp, the eggs and red mozzie larvae but the parents seem to scoff that leaving nothing for the little ones...so ive switched to fine crushed flake (so it stays floating...the parents wont eat from the surface but the little ones do) and sinking pellets that dont dissolve too quick(!) (the little ones flock round the tablets)
the parents are unbelievably protective of the young, i think they've definatly done it before. you cant even walk past the aquarium without them throwing themselves at the glass at you. i had to stick my hand in their the other day to retrieve the other part of my glass scraper. big mistake. daddy got me! i dont think they have teeth but jeez there was something sharp in his mouth..ive got a graze (almost like a love bite!) on the side of my hand, and i wont be putting my hand in there again!

i think its safe to say they are doing really well!! only problem is what to do with them all? im guessing if i keep feeding them well the majority are going to make it due to lack of 'predators' in the tank.....

time for an updat, the little buggers are now 6 weeks...not so many as there was but theres still a good 50 in there.....


mum and dad have since decided to kick them 'out of the nest' and lay again...twice as many eggs as last time.....
