YAY sordie babies

YAY my first batch of fry! my sordie had been looking pregnant for ages but just didnt have them, so i got a breeding trap and woop, got about 20 babies in there now, i will add some pics 2moz when i can find the cam, for now its to sleep and hopefully the sordie will have more!

I bought a couple of beautifully coloured swordtails this week and have decided to try and save and rear the next lot of fry

Thanks, it was certainly fun, about 2 in the morning i saw 5 fryi thought how cool, thats prob my lot though, woke up this morning and was like 30... eassssy

Wow! Thats so cool- congrats! My swordtails are looking rather fat too, but when i put mine in bredding trap they didnt have any Obv not ready quite yet. Tried putting my guppy's who are very pregnant in there, but they didnt like going into net so i left them as to not stress them!

I found it ezer when i kept the female in the main tank but there is a chance you will have a lot less then expected. i thought i would have forty if i kept my female guppy in the breeder but she didn't like it in the net so i put her back in the main tank and have only 11 right now. she still looks pregnant but maybe it is her next brood already growing up. Oh well.

Well the sordi still looks pregnant, but there is about 30 fry, so i put her back in the tank yesterday morning, if she has anymore i dout they will survive in the main tank, but 30 is enough for me, god knows what i am going to do with them all if they live!!

Don't worry petecrab, our swordie had about 50 babies - all put in a separate tank and only about 3 survived! We worried about what we would do with all these fish but in the end nature took it's course and we gave the three babies to our lfs (a good one I hasten to add).
