I agree with that, it actually wouldn't be that difficult to pull off. In Fact there are better scapes on the go at the moment.

I agree too, I think that would be pretty easy to do. If you wanted to do something like that it would be totally attainable in terms of the scape it actually looks a little jumbled to me...

Looks lovely ,but how do they go about cleaning the sand or gravel?

They don't. The mulm feeds the plants they might hover a gravel vac over to remove any large bits, but most would be allowed to break down naturally.

Wow thats a gorgeous tank would love to create something like that. I'm sure it's possible just takes time and patience till you get it just right to how you like it
