Wow, Just Wow!

Those are real whale sharks and that tank extends away to the left of the picture so it is much bigger than you think . I cannot believe you could be dim enough to think they would put robotic/fake whale sharks in that tank. They have been quite proven to be real, theye were in fact taken from the sea.

I'm not really a fan of keeping something as large as a whale shark in a tank to be honest, even one as big as that. It is impressive though.

not knowing a real whale shark. mmmmm so the 14 years of studying sharks and actually going to south afirca to study white sharks for 2 years. VERY SKEPTICAL !!!!!!!!!

the tank is beautiful and yes would take alot of time to keep clean.

There can only be an argument if there are two differing opinions.
Honeythorn isn't stating an opinion though... The FACT is that the fish are real.
Since Honeythorn stated a fact then there can be no argument, just someone who wishes to be stubborn due to their 'experiences' (And wishes to ignore all the easily found info that tell him he's wrong)

I am skeptical that someone would actually spend years of their life studying them and not know one of the few places that keep whale sharks in captivity. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is one of the few places in the world large enough to house some of them and attempt to study their breeding in captivity.

At the very least, if one wants to believe in the conspiracy, the question becomes what would be easier? To fake all sorts of multimedia, websites, and even scientific journal articles about the whale shark being studied in Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, or to actually keep them? Also, what would be the benefit of faking it? Especially considering the embarrassment and consequences of getting caught? Taken in whole, and considering all the evidence that is available, I find it highly unlikely that all the media is faked.

Now, as someone who has studied them in the wild, perhaps because they are in captivity they are acting significantly differently than they do in the wild? That is definitely something I can believe. That the creatures are acting significantly differently because they are stressed/unhealthy/unhappy/etc. But, I just cannot believe that such an institution and the scientists that work for it would take the risk of being discovered faking such a claim. It would absolutely ruin many careers.

I don't think that there has been any kind of a row. I read a thread with two differing sides. Both sides have been very respectful with no name calling or any other immature behavior.

This is exactly what a forum is for -- to bring different people and different people's opinions together. So long as everyone is respectful, there is absolutely nothing wrong with disagreement.

And, so long as we keep it respectful, then there is nothing wrong with this thread.

maybe, but even if facts are given, what he wants to believe is still an opinion, whether you agree or not.

this really does get on my nerves when people get on a band wagon, maybe he doesnt WANT to BELIEVE its real, maybe he wants a rise out of you i dont know, but surely it isnt worth making us all read this??

i thought this forum was for fun, help and enjoyment, and reading people spout at each other isnt fun for me
