If so you need 35 gallon tank.
70 gallon filter.

I've heard rumors that if you've had fish in an uncycled tank for 6 months, and you are moving these fish to another cycled tank, without taking any water out of the old tank, would it be cycled for the other fish?

Nope, I read this and don't understand it either?!?!?!?

What I think he means is that his 8 gal tank was overstocked with 3 fancy goldfish and the filter couldn't keep up with there waste.
So the tank never cycled.
But if he does some water changes before adding the guppys the tank should be cycled. Due to the tank now being stocked properly for the tank size and the filter being able to cope with guppys instead of goldifsh.
