Would Like To Get A Lizard

my LFS had a bearded dragon in a few weeks ago
he was gooooorgeous
HUGE but gooooorgeous

ive had two skinks in the past, lovely lizards to have, fed them on crickets, were friendly, they jus have to get used to u like other animals. i had a heat mat, a basking light and logs in the sind so they can bury themselves to obviously keep warm and to sleep!!! :)

This is a great site if you're still interested in leopard geckos... they are about the easiest reptile you could possibly keep provided you do things correctly :) and obviously research is key: http://www.thegeckospot.com/careindex.html
However, if you want something that doesn't eat live food and is *seriously* low-maintenance then african land snails are brilliant. Or you could get a giant millipede . I love giant millipedes... they are so gentle and interesting to handle... watching/feeling their little feet walking in funky waves is just too cool for words ^_^. Take a look here about millipedes: http://www.petbugs.com/caresheets/A-gigas.html

Edit: Whilst the millipede site I posted above mentions that decorations are not really necessary, in my experience they really to like to have some low branches or pieces of wood (mopani is good because it can withstand the humidity) to crawl and rest on. So if you had a 10 gallon tank with a piece of interestingly-shaped mopani in the middle and an Eco Earth (coconut fibre) substrate then you'll have the beginnings of a really nice millipede tank.

We bought some giant millipedes for our son for christmas, he loves them, they are interesting little things and you can get numerous types.

Yeah they are brilliant. As an arachnophobe (I like spiders a lot, but I'm still afraid of them which sucks) I can vouch for the fact that millipedes are easy to handle. I always worry about handling invertebrates in case they end up freaking me out since I have a spider phobia, however I find that millipedes are no different to handle than hamsters... just a bit slower! You can still do the hand-in-front-of-hand thing with millipedes, only they will grip you much more efficiently than a hamster and can sit practically upside-down on your hand as long as they have a good enough foothold. I *must* get myself some millipedes... they really are fantastic and so easy to look after. Just make sure you wash your hands after handling them incase they have secreted any minute amounts of irritant without you noticing. Certainly don't want that crap in your eyes!
