I recently saw a picture of a reticulated Hillstream, and a Cherry shrimp together...

almost a month later, I still haven't had time to add more cherries to this tank... but there are still a few in there... ( at the top, in the roots )

a breeding group of both orange, and yellow shrimp arrive today, each going to their own breeding tank... a few, to start with, will be going into their own community tanks, just to add a pop of color... I'm sure a few will get eaten, but there is lots of hiding spaces in these community tanks... hoping the new shrimp will breed in their respective breeding tanks, and allow me the chance to see a few once in a while in the fish tanks...

well I guess fish will be fish, of their own personality... "Blue" ( my zebra lace angel ), known to actively hunt cardinal tetras, went on a hunt, after it ate the 1st shrimp it saw, the orange shrimp went partially into that tank, and one must have been berried, as there were maybe 10-12 just hatched size in the bag, along with 4 adults, that went into that tank... lots of hiding places, so some could still be left, but that angel spends the bulk of it's time hunting... 4 yellow shrimp went into another tank, with another angel "Mutt", and he didn't give them a 2nd look... saw them swimming around freely, before I went back to work, but don't see any now, so I assume one of the other cichlids scooped them up...

so raising the shrimp in their own breeding tanks, will give me the chance to add culls, or a net full as the population increases in the breeder tanks... I expect just like feeder fish learn, to stay away from the predator fish, the shrimp will learn to stay away from some fish, and because these tanks have structure to favor smaller critters, some may survive, every once in a while, and perhaps the survivors may eventually breed in these tanks...

"Blue" will eventually be moved to my 250 gallon, when that tank is ready, and at that point the South American Tetra tank, will be a much more shrimp friendly place...
