so i was looking on a website called Java
I have heard mixed reviews and know that the plants often arrive looking less than impressive.
However for the price you can't really complain.

Anyhow I am looking at the "packs" of plants they sell.
I havent any fish as yet and wanted to experiment with the whole planting thing and see what i can manage to grow without the fish first. dont want to be disturbing them by yanking dead plants out etc.

So one of the sets they sell includes these plants.
I don't want to just throw money away, but at the same time, the cost of plants out there means that i cant be buying lots of plants to kill. thought id see what happened with some cheap ones first.

i planted some that i bought from my LFS already today, but im looking into getting this.

without CO2 and with only basic lighting and little knowledge, will any of these grow or am i just throwing the money away?

thanks in advance

I bought most of my first plants from Java and a few of them are in your collection and they all grew great. :)

that's great, thank you :)
i shall order them next week then :D
can't wait til my (oops, i mean my son's :p) tank looks full and healthy hehe

Cool, what's your lighting? Most of them will do fine with low lighting but a few will look fantastic with high light, CO2 and ferts. :)

ermmm, not sure on the lighting, it's a juwel rio (the 4foot one) and has the light that came with it.
i bought it second hand so i don't have any idea lol.
asked the guy when i bought some plants from my LFS and he gave me a bottle of "the best" apparantly. it was only £5 for a hundred ml bottle so i guess it doesnt really qualify as the best ;) (to fertilise my 30gallon tank i had to use 50mls)

i have decided not to dabble into the whole co2 thing until i've got a bit more knowledge, just getting my head around ammonia, nitrites and nitrates has confused me enough LOL

:D
