Its 30 u.s. gallons by the way, what do you think about putting a blood parrot cichlid in a tank that size. I know that 50 gallons is the recommended minimum but is it really that serious. There will be no other fish, maybe 3 pygmy cories and an endlers or two. So, will a 30 gal tank be okay? Have you had any experience?

p.s: the tank is not yet set-up, maybe at Christmas, need suggestions

thanx!

30 gallons is big enough. I have mine in a 55 gallon and he could fit into a 30 gallon if he was alone. I have had mine for 2 years and he is 6 inches. Is your 30 Gallon tall or long?

yes he will do fine! you could keep a pair of jellybeans in a 30gal!
You could but it would not be a good idea long term
A 50g suggessted minimum is just that, MINIMUM, for good reason. Blood parrots can grow to in excess of 8" - thats over ten inches including tail. Far too big for a 30g & IMO a 75g should be considered.

(Actually that's not strictly true, I would never consider keeping one of these deformed monstrosities. Such a waste of tank space when there are so many, beautiful, natural species to chose from.)

Endlers & dwarf cories would be snacks.

that's hardly fair

I wouldn't keep it in my 30, would look too small for the poor guy

mine's in a 80g, she's really active and likes the room, i wouldn't keep one in a 30g, and yeah endlers definately wouldn't last long!!!
