my female dropped just over two week ago, and seemed to become pregnant straight away, past couple of days she hasnt been eating not even her favourite bloodworm, she has been hiding and getting very stressed with the males chasing her. her back end seems swollen and i can see the fry inside. i know she wont be ready to drop yet but shes showing the classic starters of wonting to drop. what can i do??

update still not eating, dont want her to die!!! :-(

Do you not have a hospital tank you can put her in . I come across this very often with my fish
how many fry did she drop do you think she dropped them all ?
You will know when a female is ready to drop she will get harassment from males that can make them go and hide and stop them from a full delivery of fry yes it is stress. I have set up many birthing tanks for my guppies were I can put a breeding pair in and then take the male out when he has done his job I leave the female to have her fry and she will stay with them for about two weeks this gives her time to get over her stress and fit and well before she goes back to her main tank
Heeak I hear you shout what about the female eating her fry ? I have only ever come across this when I first started breeding guppies in the main tank when she is on her own with her fry the extra feeding times keeps her well fed
So after all my rambling I would say she needs a little time on her own a lot like human females

she dropped 15 all together but i do not think she dropped them all, she was still big when i put her back in the main tank. but i would have thought shed have dropped the fry by now. i can see the frys eyes in her, i have seperated her in a breeders net, i have a fry tank but have some from her last lot. do you think she will drop them now i have her by herslf or do you think it will take another couple of weeks yet???

thanks

Two weeks from starting to drop seams like a long time to hold them I have never had them hold them for that long
Keep her on her own dont try to over feed her if she is not eating keep a eye on her there may be a fry inside blocking the way this may be the cause for her not eating as she will feel bloated
