They need more space and, because of that, I wouldn't recommend adding any rocks or wood.

Sorry, but that is so very WRONG!
The number of fish you put into your tank and the sort of fish you put into your tank is totally within your control.

Fishkeeping as a hobby is an art and a science combined and it does require patience to be learned. It's always best to take smaller steps and build up to something glorious, than attempt too much and fail. The lives of our fish are at stake here.
