I am going to rescale my tank so should I use drift wood or rocks as my primary hardscape?

I would determine off your stock and what there naturally occurring environment looks like , South American tends to be more densely wooded as to where lake Malawi would have denser areas of rock , if it’s pure visual just play around with what you have see what you think looks best , certain woods and rocks can also change the ph Gh of your water over time something else to have a think about

Thing is I like heavily planted tanks which is not what a biotobe is
Depending on what biotope you aim for you could have a very densely planted tank large parts of most water systems are heavily planted , do you have a current photo of your tank and what you don’t like about it ? Or what you want to change

This is it now
