WOAH! He keeps ramming into stuff!

Okay, my betta often darts really fast, and crashes into something, making a noise so loud that even I can hear it! Seriously, he suddenly darts, crashes into the gravel, castle, plant, etc. etc., stays still for a moment, as if stunned, and then starts acting normal again. And i'm like "Oh my GAWD! He's gonna die someday if he keeps doing that. " So, I want to know why he's doing it, if it's really bad or not, and how to get him to stop. Thanks!
