Winter

Well it happened. The cold has finally hit, and my arm is now purple and swollen. I cannot wait for May when it starts to warm up. Winter sucks.

Well , a night in the low teens and another inch of snow. The weatherman is calling for it to get up into the thirties starting tomorrow. I just got back in after shoveling the driveway. The ground was warm when this started and I got down to a coating of ice with slush on top and finally snow on top of that. Ten pound shovelfuls . I'm getting too old for this baloney. Have to sit down and collect myself before siphoning the days feeding of brine shrimp. How do people work full time jobs and still do all this ?
Maybe you should buy yourself a snow blower...would make it easier for you.
Too bad youths of today don't go around shoveling people out at a reasonable price like we did when we were kids.

I agree. It's good money if you go out before people hire the snow plows.
It's hard around here to get people to trust you but once you get a few clients its worth it.

Cold front blew through last night ... currently 50F, cloudy, and wind gusts up to 20 MPH

Where's my parka? 🥶

@Slaphppy7 Parka ! ? ! ? For 50 degrees ? Water don't even start to freeze then. Come up here if you want cold. The weatherman says below zero next week and another big dump of snow. Great. The snow we did get hasn't melted even a little bit yet. Our worst ever winter in my little burgh was 1978 - 1979. It started snowing November 4th and snowed every week until mid - March. This was back in the good old days when things were bad. Four wheel drive vehicles were rare and rear wheel drive was the norm. Driving was hit or miss. You got where you were going eventually because somebody gave you a ride while your own car was stuck. Legend has it that a guy stuck in his house out near Broadview Montana shot himself in despair because it had been weeks since he was able to get out. Broadview is twenty miles from Billings as the crow flies. This winter is starting out eerily similar to 1978.

I was being facetious ;)

But yeah, you do see the heavy winter clothing come out around here in temps like this...people here just aren't used to it

I'd never make it in the cold temps you guys deal with...I'm used to sweating as soon as I walk out of the door, for about 4/5 of every year

"the good old days, when things were bad"...lol

We had some wet snow last night, melting on contact. It's become a raw, misty damp day, with a north wind and heavy cloud cover. I love the idea of my fishroom being in an outbuilding, as there is no problem of humidity in this house. That was always a wintertime issue where I lived before. But I can see some tromps through the snow in my very near future. It draws closer...

At this time of year, with the leaves stripped off the deciduous trees, I can admire the cold grey sea from the fishroom windows. In summer, the view is blocked by walls of green, but right now, it's pretty good.

I put my winter coat on to hang around out back with the dog, but it is about 3c with a solid wind. In a month, I'll be outside in this weather with no jacket, but it takes a little time for the body to adjust. I was cold out there a few minutes ago! In Spring, these temperatures will be cause for celebration.
