Well, it was planned, prepared for, thoroughly researched and enacted... Now I'm expecting fry!

Winter;

I bought off Aquabid and imported from Thailand last month is now happily tending a bubble nest full of eggs!

Mama is "Milady de Winter"

My American bred white bearded HM (who I bought because she and her siblings - I have 2 of her brothers and 2 sisters- were spawned on my birthday!)

It's all very exciting!

WHY o WHY are you so far away :( i would LOVE some offspring from this lot GL with it and i hope you get lots and lots of replicas :D

Thanks guys and gals!

It was such a beautiful thing to watch also!
When I put her jar in the breeding tub he immediately displayed at her, and she flared out at him showing off white gill plates of her very own! (her brother is all white with a black beard, so I thought she may have that black face edging also... But nope she is pure as the driven snow white!) then he was circling the glass in full flare, and she was matching him...

When he dashed to his bubble nest, I turned her loose, she swam right up to it and assumed head stand position and he embraced her! No chasing or fighting, just straight to filling the nest with eggs!

The REALY cool thing is, that when she "came to" after the embrace, she HELPED him gather eggs and put then in the bubble nest! I did not expect her to HELP. After about 20 repeats, she stopped helping him gather eggs and swam to a corner behind a shell I put in for a hiding place. It was a clear as day "I'm done now"

It was FAR from the brutal affair I was expecting! I had been reading how males will bully females, both fish get their fins shredded, and after Milady's sister got all beaten up, I was expecting something far less GRACEFUL.

I feel lucky to have had such a great first breeding with my Bettas! I can't wait to see the babies!!!

I'm not going to count my fishies before they hatch, but if I get plenty to decent size, I definitely will be!

Well i will defiantly be watching to try and snag one or two lol. They are so beautiful and you are one lucky lady with the peaceful spawn you had. GOOD JOB TO YOU. :)

1st of all congrats on the eggs! beautiful pair

your spawn sounds a lot like mine :) a very peaceful one with no damage what so ever, i now have babies at a week and a half *probably nearer to 2 weeks* old. Can't wait to watch these grow :good:

Congratulations!! So glad that the initial part of things all went so smoothly! Your male is absolutely magnificent!!!! I hope that you get lots of babies that look just like their daddy! Mummy is very pretty too of course! :D

LOL thanks the female is actually quite nice looking as well, they are practically male and female versions of the same fish, she looks just like him, except without the big flowing fins! Watching them "dance" when I was introducing her to the breeding tank was pretty darn cool! They literally were mirroring eachother.

I'm excited, and nervous about the fry!
I've raised mollies, Corydora cats (longfin Panda and skunk), Kuhli loaches, longfin Zebra Danios, Long fin koi and Watonai goldies.... But this is my first tribe of Bettas. Shouldnt be too much harder than the Cories and Danios (theoretically anyway) still sort of nervous! I suppose Winter will do most of the work for the first week or so LOL

LOL... I don't know, I've not tried it from the shipping OUT end! LOL
Shipping in was interesting!
