Will We Die In 2012?

Maybe they were wiped out because they were too close to the truth. :p

Chuck Norris is going to kill the world! :hyper:

The mayans never actually said the world will end in 2012, it is just the year their calender ends, they said nothing about what would happen after so all this end of the world is just based on speculation. :/

That's what I've heard too, actually; that they simply didn't calculate past 2012 because it was so far off and they didn't really need to. There was no point in going on indefinitely... they had to stop somewhere. Seeing as they're not around any longer they clearly had some foresight, but I don't think it was of the predicting-the-end-of-the-world variety. ;)

Here is an interesting view on this subject. I did a little searching and this almost seems to make the most sense.

When we contemplate the expression "end of the world" let us realize the term "world" can refer to a cycle; a period of time; a world age era. Therefore 2012 is signalling the completion of one World Age Cycle, transitting into an emerging New World Age to come.

It is said that the world we are ending is the one that is dominated by materialism and ego consciousness, therefore it may be that the world to follow will be founded on different values that honor the spirit of the interdependence.
The Solstice on December 21, 2012—precisely at 11:11 AM Universal Time—marks the completion of the 5,125 year Great Cycle of the Ancient Maya Long Count Calendar.

Rather than being a linear end-point, this cycle that is closing is naturally followed by the start of a new cycle. What this new cycle has in store for humanity is a mystery that has yet to unfold...

2012 is also considered the completion of the 26,000 year Precession of the Equinoxes cycle, and some say it also signifies the end of a 104,000 year cycle.

Now what will really happen know one knows but I find this subject very interesting. Mostly because it's something that me or any one person can really understand. But consider this, could it be the end of a huge non-renewable resource like oil? What if some event occurs and all natural water supplies become contaminated with pollution? Interesting huh?

apparently the Mayans ran out of paper.

^true story.

but, they are on about the poles crossing, this will play havoc with my fillings and people false hips.

Now there's a true sign that the end is nigh! When today's youth only know a very prominent doomsday prediction by the movie that was made about it...

I think the Yellowstone Supervolcano will do it to be honest... that would be enough to kill us, or a LOT of us.
At least the Americans will die first :)

And also at least if the volcano goes off we in the UK will have a few hours notice before the sun is blocked out and the gas and ash falls on us and the tsunamis hit our coasts. That gives me time to go and kill myself in an awesomely cool way- I'm gonna go free climb some cliff somewhere...

Oh, grow up!!!
