Hi Guys,
I have looked up a few sites and they all seem to have different answers so i am hoping to get a few opinions from the forum so i can make up my mind.
I have a 2 ft long fish tank almost 2ft high and i am currently the owner of 4 healthy fish.
7cm discus - 3cm cat fish - 15 cm ghost knife and a 5 cm angel.
i really want to get a 15cm shark(i forget its name but they r grey with black fins)
the tank is fine at the moment, fish have plenty room to swim and im worried the shark might be a bit to much but i really want it. what do you think?
Also can anyone tell me why the discus constintly atacks the angel fish at feeding time, he wont attack the other fish at all. its a shame because any other time of the day the discus and angel swim around together like best friends.

Ok while the fish currentley in your tank are hokey dokey they wont be for long

1. Discus will happily outgrow that tank (will reach the size of a dinner plate with love)
2. 3cm catfish, not alot of detail more would help (will grow anywhere from 3cm to 10 ft)
3. 15cm ghost knife, will grow to over a foot and happily eat anything it cat get in its mouth, needs atleast a 50 gallon really
4. the angelfish is about the only one I can happily say is suited to this tank, as for the discus/angel interaction - the fish hanging together is not uncommon for angels and discus, the dominance of the discus at feeding time is normal cichlid behaviour

This new fish is already to big for your tank at 15 cm in a 60 cm as it is undoubtably an active fish. From your description I'll be gentle and guess its salmontail catfish/shark catfish depending on excact species it will get from 1-3 feet long, if on the other hand it belongs to the pangasius species these can grow to over 10 feet depending on species (the most common is the Iridescent Shark grows to about 1m or over 3 feet) Sorry to sound like such a smeg head just trying to help you do your best by your fish

Sounds like a Bala shark to me:

...and if so, then the answer is no. They should be kept in groups and will grow to 30cm+ and need plenty of swimming room.

Yes, sounds like a Bala Shark to me. These are indeed shoaling fish to be kept in groups of at least 3. In the wild they can grow to 14" though it is usually around 1/2 this in an aquarium. Still, way too big for your tank... So i wouldnt get one if i were you

I would worry more about the mix you have before getting any more unsuitable fish.

Can you describe the catfish?
