Im moving to a new house, where I am buildin a new studio

The room is a good size and I want to have a Fish tank

problem is sometimes semi - loud music will be played

will this hurt the fish, if so i dont want to do that

the speakers will not be very close to the fish, they will be a fair distance away on wall brakets

it depends how loud but if there are alot of vibrations then it will affect the fish, how far is the speaker from the tank in metres or feet?

the are only mini system speakers, but do go quite loud. altho wouldnt be played very loud most of the time.

hard to say how far they will be cos i havent yet decided on where im putting things yet.

I was going to build unit to put my decks on and have fish underneath (in the unit).

as i sed before the speakers will be in top corners of the room on brakets, prob about 2- 3 meters away

I play a lot of electronical music aswell, that has a heavy beat

It probably won't bother them (except for gouramis, I hear they go kind of nuts around lots of noise), and they might not startle at it if you turn the music on very softly and gradually turn it up to what you want, so it doesn't spook them.
Water transmits sound 4 times better than air, so when you have your speakers on, imagine it four times louder.
Just remember, if your keeping fish like Oscars, they can break a tank wide open if they get too startled. :)

On tv ive seen tropical fish in clubs N stuff

music must be well loud then, unless the glass is sound proof I guess

4 times louder would make it loud, i dont think i would like that if i was a fish,

I also have a studio in the same room as my fish. They don't even care. Turning it up gradually is not a bad precaution, but fish become accustomed to environmental sounds.

Realize, sound transmits better in water, but a fish's hearing is NO where near as accute as a human's. Their "ears" are more for balance/equilibrium, and are operated more on the vibration aspect of sound.

If you are just using 2 elevated studio moniters you will be fine. If you start putting in a bunch of subs that shake the walls though it might irritate them.

as long as their isn't a subwofer above the tank, they should be fine :)

They should be fine just avoid country music. Over exposue to that genre can result in inbred fish and mass depression resulting in fish suicides. :look:

Im sure they will luv my mixing

I play guitar and when I practice in my room it's... pretty darn loud. My fish and other animals have gotten used to it.

well im gonna go ahead and find out now

was a little worried cos I play a lot electronical music and it has a lot of bass in it

Im sorry guys but I dont agree :)

Fish feel vibrations in the water that are infinitely smaller than the vibrations we feel when loud music is played, although some fish get used to loud predictable natural sounds such as waves crashing on a beach, un-predictable loud and wide frequency noises will stress the fish too much.
