Hey Peeps :)

Having the whole house electrics rewired tommorow and they say it will take 5 days... During this time the Electricity will be on/off.

How long can the tank run at one time without power? Heat shouldn't be a problem as the weather keeps my room at 78 degrees or i can turn on the central heating to bring it to 78-84. I'd imagine everything would fine without light as i can have them on later at night when they've left.

My main concern is the powerheads as they are my only form of filtration with the LR. Will the tank be alright? Or should i sell the livestock and LR back to the LFS?

Cheers

any idea how long your powerheads will be off

crappy!

I know there's battery operated pumps. . . and you could always rent a generator.
I'm skint as a bint until Monday  So it's a no no until then :(

Could be a few hours at a time. They will be on from 6pm till 9am guarenteed, as well on off a few hours in the day :S
you could ask your LFS to hold your livestock :fish:

but they may not
I'll ask tommorow but i very much doubt it :(

I wouldn't worry about filtration as it will be fine unless you are extremely heavily stocked. I'd be concerned with O2 levels as saltwater doesn't like to oxygenate as it is let alone with no flow.

Agreed, so a battery powered pump may be highly beneficial. Also, feed your fish sparingly, and hope they are ok. Thats if you couldnt find other "accomodations" temporarily. Even offer your LFS some board money. If you are a regular they should relent! :good:

Depending on where you live, how about a massive long extension cord from the neighbours' house?

Failing that, swishng the water around regularly with a big stick -- or scooping water out and pouring it back in from a height every 15 mins or so should help. If you don't feed the fish beforehand, and keep the room dark so they sleep, there will be less oxygen demand from the fish anyway (however, if you have lots of corals or macroalgae, the converse may be true - light will help keep the water oxygenated.)

Hey Peeps :)

Well, luckily the Electric will only be off for 3hours on Tuesday and will be on all the time from now until then. They electricians have a generator i can use for those 3hours so it's all good

Cheers
