Why no donations?

I'm just curious why there are (virtually) no donations to this site that we all use (many of us very often). The post explaining the need for donations had 13 likes, but barely any of those people donated. I don't think the moderators/owners are rolling in dough from this site. If regular users gave just $1-$5 it would show our appreciation. I like this site and I think it's nice to give back a little.

It would be nice if we got a banner saying, “TFF Supporter”, and have our account upgraded. (Be able to change the color of our name, unlimited URL’s in our signatures, be able to change the title under our name, etc. etc.)

I would pay $25 for that.

Only the moderators or admins can change the title under our names. Mods don't make any $$ off the site. The moderating we do is all voluntary.

In my opinion, any donations someone gives should be out of a desire to give and be supportive, not because you want a credit banner lol. Some perks such as additional control over titles would be nice, but someone could donate $1 and do whatever they wanted. I think it would just be harder for the mods to manage and things would be chaotic. Just my thought. In all honesty I hardly knew the donations thing was there. My mind apparently didn’t register what it was

But at this site here there should be some sort of publicity or something that allows TFF to exist, isn't it? Otherwise this were not possible, but I must say that my expertise about the world of internet equals zero, other similar forums I know run very well without asking for donations so that they must have their resource sources, I believe there is a very common practice in the English-speaking world to ask for donations always and everywhere, especially in America, it's deeply in the culture, sorry, I' like to donate and I understand quite well it's useful to do so, but most people here don't really have the possibility because they simply don't have enough money as I unfortunately also do, people who has money wouldn't be visiting this site at all probably...

I think you should get a banner, but it should also be voluntary. I think you could get more money for the site by adding a banner.

No, I have 4 fish tanks, eventually 5, but in my case I'm living on social welfare, my hip joints are broken and I just can't go to work somewhere, what the german state pays for me is just enogh for me to survive, I live in perpetual isolation here and am an undesired person, without a country in this world that would be my home (I'am half a german half a spaniard), it would be different to me if I would stand on my own legs, were lord of my self, then I could give something mine's, but I get all what I own from the german state and am a prisoner of unfortunate circumstances, well you are probably right to say it could have been much worse for me, it always can, but on the other side there are other problems in this world, really unlucky people, for which it would be much fairer to spend something, this site has also their owners and they are surely not Mother Teresa.

You don't have to justify yourself Monsieur nor do you need to feel guilty because someone's trying to shame you into making a donation

Making a donation to anything...website like this or a charity etc...is an entirely personal choice and should remain a private affair tween the person and the organisation concerned.

No-one should EVER feel obliged or pressured into donating or make to feel like they are being mean if they choose not to do so.

It is the individual's own choice and as such should never be judged or questioned.

I don’t understand why donations are needed. It is my understanding forums such as this are ran by huge companies that make money from all the ads. My husband is in vintage car forums that pretty much look like this & donations are never solicited. Lots of ads for car stuff though.

I only had the desire to ask about this thing that I did not know (now the cuestion is sufficiently answered), I didn't feel compelled to do anything, after all perhaps I would like to donate every now and then if I have some leftover EURO but I'd need to go to the bank and pay it there directly as a bank transfer because I don't know how to do in online- banking and yes, I'm afraid of burglars.

Donations are totally voluntary. Dont feel any pressure to donate. This site is free for all members...again,, donations are entirely voluntary.
