I got another 10 g tank and put all my fry it treated my big guppies and one of my Fav. just died and 15 mins ago..... I got Ick Clear tank buddies....... I went out to get the 10 g tank came home to a tank with 8 now only 7 sick looking fish put the treatment in and they seem to be swimming alot more and moving around before they were just at the top of tank ready to died .....
I have no idea how many babies I have now because slot died but I know I still have around 47 fry... the guy at the store told me to take half a tablet and take care of the babies with ick if any have it.....

ok I have a hugh problem and its making me feel kinda sick I have 4 females 3 pregnant... 4 males in different place from females but one..... and I have over 50 babies now I have all of them in a 10 g tank (yes I know way to many in a 10 g I'm giving most away just have to let the babies grow a bit) 23 are 4 weeks or a month and the rest are new born. the bad thing is I don't know how to deal with this what to do with the babies and Meds. how to help my other 8 fish... my 8 fish are getting so stressed out their tails are starting to stay closed... I need info for everything how to take care of them and what to do with the babies.. I'm at a dead end lol I can't think .... I have to get Ick meds tomorrow the one I have I will not use its from walmarts and it seems to have Ick in the thing, as soon as I put it in my tank it grew on the fish like wild flowers I couldn't stop it its called Ick Away "wardley"

Please someone help me !!!

I'm so sorry to hear that your fishes aren't well, and I'm sure you're doing all you can.

Don't worry, you are doing the right thing by asking for help.

I don't have Guppies myself, but will try to point you in the right direction in which you can find more information on ich/whitespot. Here's a couple sites for you to look at, and will hopefully guide you......

In simpler terms, have you tried a) increasing the temperature, B) adding aquarium salt to the water, and c) cleaning your tank at regular intervals?

Also give these a go, on top of any medication you use.

Can I add in the aquarium salt with the Ick meds in there???
I lost the one male guppy pretty quick he only had it two days the rest are doing ok... if I didn't think that was bad enough I took a guppy with me to the store and it was really hot out and the water got up in the 80's came home put her back in the tank and she started having babies ... so now I have 11 new born orange guppy fry ...
She was covered in white spots and has a few scraps on her side and had time to give birth ..lol .... the one thing I loved was she was so calm and didn't eat the fry at all I didn't feed her or anything, I watched her have everyone of them she wasn't even fat I didn't think she had 12 in there but I could see through her and I could see the babies like they were already born ..... it was really cool...
I've got 66 fry now in a 10 g tank 43 new borns from different moms in a breeder net .... I have to keep them in it for now because my new filter ate a few lol I didn't think about it till I seen it happen.... I want to thank you for your help and the sites

Congratulations, I am so happy for you in having more guppy babies!

Before I say anything else, I have to point out that none of my fishes I have can catch Ich/Whitespot (at least I hope not). I make sure that everything in the tank is cleaned every 3-months, and water changes twice a week, and never feed my fishes too much food. I also don't have too many fishes in the tank.

I should think that by adding aquarium salt should be very helpful for these type of fishes. Also, turn up the temperature to about 30c. Wait till the morning and see what the fishes are like. If they're still ill carry on doing this until the Whitespot/Ich gets killed off.

Once Ich has 'disappeared' from your fishes, you will need to consider creating a tank cleaning rota. Make sure that the filter gets cleaned out too. Also, don't overstock the amount of fishes in your tank (perhaps get another tank), and don't feed them too much (I know how hungry baby fishes can get).

I have guppies and guppy fry. I have treated my tanks with meds with the guppy fry in there and i didn't see a problem. I have treated with Quick Cure (for ich), Salt, Melafix, and Coppersafe.

Just recently my guppies caught gill flukes and so i used Quick Cure and i saved 2 of my pregnant guppies along with 3 fry (the fry batch was very small as the parents are young). Guppy fry are much hardier than we give them credit for.

On my angelfish i know i can raise the temp to 90 and add salt without any problems but some fish can't handle that temp like my green tiger barbs (learned the hard way), so i haven't tried it with my guppies. The highest temp i raised the guppies was 86 and it didn't seem to do any good. You can try that method of raising the temp, turning off the lights and adding salt but if it doesn't work then i would highly suggest Quick Cure. That stuff takes only about 2 days but i gave my guppies a few more days of treatment just to make sure and they are all healthy now.

I personnelly do not think you are really overstocked. Most people keep about 5-10 adult guppies in a 10 gallon without many problems. As long as you clean it once a week or as often as needed you are fine. To know if you are hurting your fish with overstocking, do a test on Nitrates (assuming your tank is cycled) and if it rises above 40 then you need to do a water change. I have to keep my South American Tank below 20 Nitrates because they are very picky and i only do 1 50% water change a week without any problems.

Also, you can put some panty hose over the intake tube of your filter using a rubber band and you won't have to worry about your fry getting sucked up as much. I personnelly never have had that problem even when i was cleaning the tank those little guys are strong trying to not get sucked down the syphon. When they are newborns i usually only caught a few at the most.

I use AquaClear Filters that use sponges instead of the cartridge, i dont know how you would clean the cartridge out but i can clean my sponges in my filter once a week by just squeezing it in old tank water.

I do weekly cleaning in my tanksand the filter.. they got white spots becaus eI was stupid enough to put two new fish in (I kept them out of my main tank for a week) the one who had the Ick was the one who had Babies last night they are so cute... I've got 66 fry in all....

I have around $200.00 in fish if i was going to have buy all of them again.....

So, the goldfish dies, you cleaned everything, then added guppies. Did you cycle your tank? Was your tank competely cycled when you added the second batch of guppies? How long since you added the FIRST batch of guppies?

Is there some reason you are cleaning your filter weekly? This alone may be enough to cause constantly fluctuating ammonia and nitrite levels in your tank.

aww man that rely sucks plysha, ur doing everything u can, ick takes a lil while to clear up but if its done thr right way it can save ur fish. for ur fry i would move then to a bowl or small tank b4 treatment im not sure wat effect it could have on them.

i suck at keeping fry, im sry u lost sum i started wit 40 and now im down to 14. throgh accidents, natural death, and my own fault, v managed to kill off 26 of the lil guys , the one that died i have been thrighing in the big tank but i had never witnessd them being eaten. so today i thogh they looked pretty big and throgh a couple live ones in jus to see how they'd fair.....and they didnt do well. they were both eaten by moma lol ....

and a couple that died had their eyes literally pop out of their lil heads..anyone know wat the hell this is, iv lost like 2 alredy.

Ok everyone seems to be jumping on me now I left the tank with no fish in it for a week before I put the guppies in it, a friend was leaving town for a few months and I didn't have any more time to cycle it (its a long story boyfriend/ girlfriend fight and she wanted to leave so I took the fish ) I wanted to wait longer but she wouldn't and I didn't have anything else to put them in.... they were doing great I had them 3 months in the same tank with all the babies and I cleaned the tank every week because thats what I was told to do by someone on here if I shouldn't be cleaning the tank that much someone say so, I clean the filter every other week with old tank water.....

I treated them before I left today ...I had to go to work, I do my grandma house and things for her... shes lives in another town so i wasn't home all day....Came home to two dead males and a female the one that had her babies the other day just died a few mins ago I'm left with one male and two female and all 66 fry They have their own 10 g tank and it wasn't cycled I'm treated them also even if they don't show any signs of having anything yet ...as soon as I seen the guppies were sick I went right out and got another tank for the babies.... they are all doing great and are getting really big they are 4 weeks , 1 week and new borns in a 10 g ......I'm treated my fish
But the BAD thing is they also have/ had Fin Rot when I came home and looked at them I seen their tails were almost half way gone the females don't have it yet but I treated them for it ..

Can I put both meds in at the same time ICK and Fin Rot meds??

I feel like I should be hiding under some rocks for the rest of my life....
I'm trying my best.....

Sorry to hear more of your fishes lost.

Could you list down how many tanks you have got, the tank volume, and how many fishes you have in each?

Are you using tap water or treated (dechlorinated) water?

How much medication do you put in, and I hope you 're sticking to the instructions on the box.

How often do you leave the fishes alone in their tank without contact

What I'm trying to find out is whether you're doing too much too quickly to stress the fish out. I know someone who had guppies, and have bred them very successfully, all through leaving the fishes alone, and keeping the tanks well maintained.

If you haven't left your fish tank/s to to mature ('cycling') for at least a week/s, then what's done is done. Hopefully, we can save your remaining guppies.

Awhile back my tank got ick and fin rot both in it...from bringing home a new petsmart fish...anyway...those ick buddies tablets are good for ick...But I could not get rid of the fin rot quick enough to save my guppies... Then I bought some stuff called binox u need to keep a bottle of this always...I have used everything made for fungus, and the binox works very quickly. Sorry for ur loss.

Okay, it sounds like your tank is cycled so it was definately the fish that came from the store. Why don't you look into a product called MelaFix, its a natural healing tea that helps fish without hurting your cycle. Oh one more thing, i did not realize you were using jungle products, they kill your bacteria so your fish now may be dieing because of high ammonia without the good bacteria.

Check your water to find out if you lost your cycle and then i would suggest a water change. You can keep treating with the jungle tablets but you need to do a water change at least every other day if you have no cycle. The melafix is for fin rot and a few other external wounds, i really recommend it. You can mix it with other medications as well.

I understand about the fish problem 3 months ago, things happen. Next time if you ever have to have fish and your tank isn't cycled then you can try cycling the tank with the fish in there by just doing a water change every other day. Most fish are hardy and can handle it like guppies but others can't.

Remember that even though Ick may seem to be gone in a while, you still need to treat for a few more days because there still may be some eggs in the gravel that will hatch and attach to your fish and start the ick cycle all over again. Ick usually takes about a week to get rid of. It's only been 2 days so you might want to give it a little more time. Like i said i didn't have any luck with the jungle products but great success with Quick Cure from Walmart. I would try that if in a week your fish do not seem to be getting better. But stop the jungle medication if your going to move on to another ick medication.
